thank you, and I wish you all the best for 2010.
only thing I wish for 2010 is more respect towards the weaker members of our society who have no voice to talk for themselves

here it is the same, everywhere you look you see people wearing fur.
I got an "Against Fur"-badge I wear visible on my jacket.

No, I ment the one you link to in your signature (alive animals)

The chapter of animal cruelty is a long one, and the industry tries its best to cover what is going on behind fur items, cheap pets and exots in stores and markets. And the twisted human nature of some animal "fans" bring them to a point where they buy stuffed animals, because it's the only way they can get near them; and still they say they love the alive ones even more. It's a selfish world, mostly ruled by making or saving money when it comes to the animal industry. Neither producers nor clients seem willing to change, and both use the excuse of: But that's what the market wants/ But they produce or kill them anyway, my behaviour wont make a difference, therefore I keep buying!
But each single person can make a difference!
I would like the people buying fur items to witness the way where it comes from from the very beginning, with their own eyes, and then still tell me this is okay for them.

no they were rescued from the fur farm at an age of about 10 days, now they should be about 2 years. "put down" is nicely paraphrased, sometimes they are not even killed before skinned

I meant to let you know that the little fox (that you have shown in your avatar) is so cute! Is it 'Alopex Lagopus'?

keiko124 In reply to lauricedeephd [2009-02-04 08:25:09 +0000 UTC]

thank you,yes he is really cute, most people think that he and his 2 brothers are polar foxes but they are "Choco Marble Foxes" a color phase of the red fox "vulpes vulpes", a polar fox would be greyish brown at that age.

Oh, is he yours? He is so adorable, from the way he peeks out from between the blankets. Thanks for letting me know about the different types of foxes. Are they really small that you can hold in your arms, just like holding a cat or rabbit?

I had never heard of these types of foxes until you introduced them through tursiops.org forum quiz.

keiko124 In reply to lauricedeephd [2009-02-05 17:10:50 +0000 UTC]

no,he is not mine.
grown out the should be about the size of a red fox (the are red foxes but a different color phase)
they live now at Gut Aiderbichl in Salzburg/Austria,here some photos when they came to their new home, at about the age of 5 months (nearlygrown out) [link] even there they wrote, that they are polarfoxes, what is wrong.
the woman on the 2nd last picture is who saved them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

lauricedeephd In reply to keiko124 [2009-02-06 02:56:26 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the link. Amazing that these foxes would be a little bit large at about 5 months!

How did these people obtain these foxes? Are they wild foxes? If so, will they be returned back to the wild once they're fully grown?

Did you take the photo of one of the foxes for your avatar? I like his facial expression - as if he was gazing at you from the avatar!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

keiko124 In reply to lauricedeephd [2009-02-06 09:33:39 +0000 UTC]

no, I have never seen a wild fox long enough to take a photo.
these 3 foxes were freed from a fur farm at an age of abot 10 days and raised by a german dog trainer, as far as I know they should stay forever at Gut Aiderbichl, there are no wild marble foxes), the marble fox is a color phase of the red fox, mainly bred for fur farms and is no natural species/ color phase
