Ok if you use photoshop you can find several adjustment layers by going to
layer >> new adjustment layer and there you can choose several ways to enhance all the layers beneath. You have to try some of them to see the effects. Adjustment layers are a save way to change color or darken the image if you use the option clipping mask, only the layer directly beneath the adjustment layer will show the changes you make.
if you use a other program tell me wich one so i can find out where these options are in that program.
