Hi there Joe. The other day I was looking for some Spiderman pics, and i saw your sketch of that rise of apocalypse spiderman. I would like to know what happened with that series? Because I looked for it on google and found nothing :/
I don't read too much comics cause in my country they are hard to get and even harder that particular series. I would like to do a cosplay of that spidey suit
You uploaded the photo on 2005... So I guess that the series was never made XD.
Looking forward for your answer

your work is off to a good start, but all I can recomend, and this will probably sound boarin, is that it would hurt to start practicing "realism". when you draw people and there anatomy to the point where it becomes second nature then you can and begin to develop your own style.

Hey Joe, I finally found one of those Mechanical pencil sharpeners which I started to believe didn't exist. A Mars Staedtler Mechanical pencil sharpener for art and drafting. But now I have to find a mechanical pencil that works with it because none of the ones I have work. And what are those two holes in the front for?
It's been awhile since we've seen an update, you should take digital photos of your larger works and edit them on the computer. Thats what I did with mine, they may not look as good but I got em on.
Keep up the good work!

joeblackstone In reply to Mojo-jojo-jojojo [2005-09-30 15:56:46 +0000 UTC]
not a bad idea on the digital photos. the two little hole in the front on the sharpener is for sizing the lead form the tip of the lead to the mouth of the mechanical pencil. use it to adjust the right amount fo lead to sharpen so that you dont put in too much lead for it to snap. for the right pencil use a Staedtler mars-780 mechanical pencil.

Wow those are some great updates. Was that a mechanical pencil sharpener you were using at Otakon? I've been looking everywhere for one but can't find it. Really great work though, as always.

thanks for the piece from Otakon, damn this spawn kicks some ass. ^_^ It's inspiring to make me draw more plus my DA gallery is looking really sad. So I'm going to stop being lazy and draw something...and try to get as good as you. Now I gotta get these framed.

Thanks so much for the three commissions you did for me at Otakon! I like the Battle Chasers one especially. Out of all the commissions I got you definitely showed the most dedication in doing them well for the price paid. I wish I'd gotten an Iron Boy commission too, so I can brag to all my friends that I knew you before you got famous. I'm getting the two pandas and the battle chasers picture scanned so if you want a copy of them to add to your DA account or to add to your portfolio let me know and I'll email em to ya or get them to you... Somehow...
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work,
-Mike

You're new!
I saw you at Otakon this weekend and asked for your site..
I was expecting you to have thousands of pageviews.
I'm so glad I was able to meet you when you're just starting out. When you become really popular (and I know you will be) and everyone wants to commission and interview you, it will be enough to know that I was able to talk to you in person and see your hard work up close.
Thank you for letting me experience that, and (as if I actually need to say this!) please keep making beautiful art.
.. Also, just to be safe (and so that I don't look like an idiot), if this is an account you just made for you professional works or something, and you have an old account on here, pretend that I said all that when you actually were starting out ^^

Sort of I've been short on time recently, but I'll probably post something new this weekend.
I see you've added alot more stuff as well! I'm looking forward to seeing the products of all that hard PS work! It's hard at first to get used to it and establish a coloring style, but I have faith in your skills.
