want to get rid of the recycle bin on the desktop eh?

well first things first, make sure you got it set to auto delete (right click on it and get the properties and set it to automatically empty trash)

alright well now that you got that done there are actually two ways to do this:

1) the first and quite possibly the one that lags down your computer the most is where you right click on the desktop and select the "hide desktop icons" selection. the reason it slows down your computer so much is that it enables "web desktop" which likes to hog resources.

2) the second and better way that i did it (and also so that i can have other icons on the desktop, i like to download things directly to the desktop so i can manage how i want it very easily after its done downloading) is that i went to the run dialog box (in the start menu of course) and typed in "gpedit.msc" (no quotes mind you). Next, in the new window look at the "user configuration" group and expand it if it isnt already, then goto "administrative template" and expand that as well. Then find the "desktop" selection under that. dont expand it, just select it. then find the "remove recycle bin icon from desktop" option to the right, and right click > properties and enable it, and you're done! no more recycle bin on the desktop, and it doesnt slow down your system!!! yay!
