great concertphotography!! being a concert photographer myself i'd like to ask you what kind of lenses u use to get this kind of result......*
π: 0 β©: 1
ivanlee In reply to endraum [2006-07-05 01:50:23 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!! so, it depends on the size of the concert. On small concerts I use a 28-70 Sigma EX 2.8 and a 50mm 1.8 when the lightning is not enough. For bigger concerts I was using a Sigma 70-300 f/4-5.6, but it's not confortable to shoot a concert with slow glass, but you can still get good results.
The perfect set-up in my opinion: 15mm fish-eye, 24-70mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8 and a 70-200 2.8.

well yes.........these are my dreams........canon 24-70 and 70-200 IS but they are tooo expensive.....are you happy from your sigma lenses?*

ivanlee In reply to endraum [2006-07-05 16:55:09 +0000 UTC]
I think they are good lenses... but nothing compares to Canon L and Minolta lenses.
The Sigma 24-70 EX DG 2.8 and the newer Sigma 70-200 EX DG Macro 2.8 are awesome lenses, they are almost as good as the Canon ones... but if you can't afford a Canon L, a good choice is the Tamron 28-75, it's a little sharper, has a smaller filter thread (67mm against 82mm on the Sigma) and is lighter.
Remeber this: test the lens before you buy, Sigma and Tamron don't have a very good quality control, so make sure you get a good copy

i was keeping this message unanswered for so long cause i wanted to be able to look at the info u provided me easily @my comments thanx a lot for the info really..
yesterday night i realised that i'm not able to use the 70-200 canon for long cause it's sooo heavy for me. I borrowed from a friend and after the second song my hand was hurting...
So on Monday im going shopping....But i've got nooo idea what is it gonna be......the 17-55 2.8 canon? the 24-70 canon? or one of those by sigma or tamron..............im so so confused*

ivanlee In reply to endraum [2006-07-10 03:36:59 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, the 70-200 Canon is a heavy lens! but the lens suits very well with a bigger body like the 20D with a grip and the 1Ds.
So you are going to shop for a new lens? be carefull this time... lol
the new Canon 17-55 2.8 IS is a great lens, but it's too short for concert use! well, it's ok if you work near the stage! but I still think it's short
the 24-70 is just a little longer but still short! tell me first, what kind of concerts you will shoot? for small concerts and clubs, the new Canon 17-55 or the new Tamron 17-50 would be perfect!
do you have MSN or any other IM? so we can talk faster
