What inspires my work? Artists like , , and are all huge inspirations of mine! My wonderful gf also inspires me to do what I love the most, and she's always giving me new ideas.
I'd have to say my very first inspirations were Megaman and Owlboy, however. Megaman Megamix and Gigamix comics were huge for me.

the characters all had different body shapes and eyes! And even though they reused a lot of the same elements, they were all easily idenifyable. Some of my very first OCs were Megaman fan characters, such asΒ

The way I draw noses now comes from this style! I realized that drawing noses as shapes could do a lot to accent character personalities! So I borrowed a lot from that concept in my recent art.
Β Β For example, Toby has a medium size nose with a slight upward tilt at the end because he's very in his own head! Upward or pointed noses are characteristic of intelligent or know it all characters. He likes to keep to himself, so because he is not generally considered friendly, he does not get a cute button nose like his sister Tilly would.

A lot of developing an art style comes from using elements you enjoy and trying new things.
My old art actually used to be very soft because I used mostly rounded shapes, but I realized that didn't really work for the stories I was creating. I was also really afraid to use brighter colors and muted everything I had until it looked washed out and gray. But that didn't really work either, so I stepped out of my comfort zone. Trying new things feels a lot like you aren't drawing in your own style at first, but with repeated practice and refining your skill, you can make anything you want of your style! I also borrow a lot from real life animals and objects. References can make you a very strong artist!Β

But I was dissatisfied with it, that I changed it. A lot of my art style still keeps some of the old values of my old art style around, however. Just because it's old, doesn't make it bad. There's a good way to execute anything!
For example, I loved giving every character a different eye shape to match their personality, and now that I've grown as an artist, I can more easily do that!

man it really shows that you put a lot of effort into your characters, i'm really impressed by it. thank you for showing me your inspirations. the amount of effort you put into designing characters and their stories is very VERY awesome and so inspiring ! -w- even your old art back then looks so damn cute ! im still trying to find what yet inspires me and i'm still trying to find my own style. i gotta practice on anatomy as well, i think the only thing im ok at is coloring haha.. i know it takes time to know what you'll be sticking to. but yes, i agree that references make you very strong as an artist. i really love the effort u put into your work, every character you do all have very distinct appearances, and seem to have different personalities. thanks again for answering !

Absolutely, dude!!! You're already doing very solid work, and I'm thrilled to watch you embark on your art journey! You're already very strong in your use of colors, yes! That took me a very long time to get down, and I still struggle with it!!
And I do try very hard to make each of my characters unique with fun, interesting, personalities and stories!
