Hey, I wouldnt really say that Im fine considering I havent been motivated when it comes to drawing art for a couple of weeks. I do have a lineart ready, but overall it just doesnt look good to me and coloring it is too frustating for me to handle it. Been basically stuck in an art block that I've yet to overcome. Definitely could've been better. Thanks for asking though

Regarding the Shorts, I agree that th marketing part could've been improved by uploading them on their main channels.

I think the character itself is fine. It's interesting that her dad still hasnt known of Gwen beeing Ghost-Spider, so I suppose shes pretty new at this. Don't really have a problem with the other characters and I think it could be a fun series.

The animation doesnt look that bad, as I've heard numerous times that certain Marvel cartoon animations look rather low budget and/or lazy. People love to bring up Marvels Spider-Man on that one which is understandable, lol.

I get that they're maybe trying to make Ghost new and fresh but I dont really like her new costume visually, with the light blue eyes that she got and I presume a light blue spider on her back of the costume. I personally just dont really find the addition of light blue to her "standart" color palette appealing. Maybe they did that to bring up the "Ghost" part of her name..? Not really sure there. This might be a nitpick, but i prefer the pink eyes of her with the "airbrushed look", meaning that the eye shape looks like its been sprayed over instead of the look we get nowadays.Her hair also resembles the one of Gwenpool with the pink tips on her hair afaik, which is interesting.

Overall I think they've done a decent job at this and doesnt seem like I am the only one thinking this when I looked at the comments

I understand how you feel art wise.  Good art takes time.  I might have ideas but I'm NEVER satisfied with what I try to make thus outside of possible using some old things to test new tools and art apps to experiment many just remain in a notebook, Sta.sh, or such.

I recall that the writer of Spider-Gwen Jason stated that he had the dad discover in the original one shot as at the time it was a 'one shot' comic.  If he knew how popular and that Gwen would gain her own series he would of held it off (though he did wanted the father-daughter aspect front and center with the father being the 2nd main character of the series).

The blue eyes didn't bother me however I prefer as you wrote the spray paint airbuch look dark pink eyes.  I'm happy to see those eyes and those details by other artists including fanarts that capture that look vs the clean painted form eyes.  The spray paint adds attitude plus has the dark NYC and punk rock art style and neon vibe of her series.  However to make that level of details on the eyes in animated form plus motion plus the already web designs of her outfit might of been to chamanngeing to do while on a budget and time limit to make a overall quality work.  Thus having a matching neon blue like the shoes and webs of her costume I feel was the next best thing while also not coping the other spider masks leaving something just for Gwen facial wise outside of her white mask.

Many have written how strange this Gwen Stacy has pink Highlights in her hair when many link that to a visual mental image of Gwen Poole's.  She looks good with them (plus many young artists I'm finding in the current culture seems to be using color in their hair to stand out thus a drummer artist could have such coloring possible before gaining her powers).  I was thinking the matching neon blue of her costume instead but that might of been too much blue maybe for her.

So far (outside of the ones who didn't see it and just asking fo it to be cancelled without a reason but just bashing it maybe because they are characters they don't follow or one of the old classics they are use to) many who have seen the shorts seemed to enjoy it and was impressed and like the characters mostly.

I have one massive negative involving 'Ghost-Spider not about the name or the lack of advertising that will have people who could of became fans miss out but I'm write about it another day.

Hope you will be able to get out of your art block and find motivation and happiness with your art.  You are an amazing artist.

I definitely feel the same with good art. The past weeks where i was trying to get something out they just didnt feel the same as the last ones I published here on DA. Some of the attempts felt sort of forced and the process didnt feel the same. Atleast I had that 'inspirational kick' that really motivated me when I had drawn these pictures, if you get what I'm saying. Pretty much all of those recent attempts ended with me frustatingly closing the drawing programm with no real progress on potential ideas. Just wanted to call that out I guess.

I agree with the airbrushed eyes probably beeing a little challenging while beeing on a budget and you brought a good point about her having somewhat of a "unique" look on her mask to differentiate herself from the other Spider-people, that I havent thought about.

I do think the blue highlights on her hair wouldve been a better fit for her and imo the amount of blue would be just right when it comes to the colors.

Feel free and share your thoughts about the Ghost-Spider name if you want to!

I really appreciate the compliment and generally made me feel much better about my published artwork I hope I'll find the motivation someday, as things right now arent looking as crisp as they used to :v. Thank you

Reading over the comments from forums and from youtube I also must add that thanks to being a Spider-Gwen fan and having read her series my first thought was 'Peter' when seeing Kevin and seeing him as a stand-in (as did many others in the comments). Now if like many people who might be watching these shorts but never read her series maybe they might be able to adapt better (but for some who don't read her series or comics still thanks to other animated series many still would of link Keven with Peter or Harry instead).


Many people wonder why Peter wasn't used. I guess the team did not want to kill Peter as killing Peter would block Spider-man/Peter showing up if the team wanted to use him at some point. Also maybe the team was worried that some viewers who are major Peter Parker/SPider-man fans would be upset if Peter was shown killed.

I say then if not Peter then maybe Harry could of been the possible friend that died for Gwen's backstory and troubles. That Harry of that Earth was a Inhuman (mother side?).  It would link with other Earth lores that have Peter, Harry, and Gwen binded in a web of best friends yet tragedy many associate as well.  Plus maybe in this Earth unlike majority Norman Osborn actually valued his son being a loving father over his company for once. With Ghost-Spider getting the blame Osborn wanting to have revenge hires assassins and mercenaries and funds secret projects to take down his son's killer till he decides to do it himself.


The beginning while I understand the team wanted Gwen to show off her powers the darker personality she gives off is not helpful.  Webbing the police is one thing as she's self defending herself and the webs are non lethal and will go away in time but it could of been shown and done better if right after this she immediately jumped back to her location of where she was smashed from looking in then showing anger. Angry not just that she's in grief (as shown in the 2nd part that she's still suffering) but that she finally found the killer and now she lost her agian much to her fury. Her tone and disrespect to the cops just doing their jobs then comes less from logic but emotions she was feeling and then later she could of mentioned that during her battle with Patriot if he brought it up and that she was sorry for how she treated them. 

I know this is common not just nowadays but even in the past but Gwen of all the characters I feel should treat the cops with respect and only be negative with good cause when they perform a action that is reckless or could negatively affect the Police department as she has a experience that other characters don't have: her father's a cop.
Thus she might know from just hearing about the dangers her father has to go though plus when one bad cop is revealed all cops get a hit in negative presentation including her good hard working father. Due to family connections Gwen of all the character should of been treating the NYPD with respect.  Many other Spider character hero would be apologizing to the cops right after and telling them that the webs would dissolve but he/she had to protect himself/herself Gwen just disrespected.

I also wonder why Captain Stacy said along the lines of 'incompetence' when seeing the video himself the cops didn't make a error as much just don't have the tools/super abilities to handle that threat level on them yet still went out to perform their duty against the odds.  He disrespected the cops there as well for a second. Bit overly harsh.


I was thinking of this version MJ being a missed opportunity here. Both are the most notable of the Woman with the lore and Multiverse of the Spiders and many multiverse would have them be the ones each turn to outside of Peter.

For fans watching (grealty MJ fans) I'm sure they expected this and have no idea who Glory is in any Multiverse yet (which might be though why they wanted Glory to see past Gwen's emotional mask and give a speech and heartfelt talk to Gwen so others might be interested to who is unknown might be or hoping to have more space to try things with vs the one shown already by other mediums MJ and Betty).

Still as a MJ and a Gwen fan I would of enjoyed MJ being not just the band leader but seeing that Gwen despite putting on a smiling face is still hurting with reasoning that MJ knows Gwen well (not to the same degree as her fallen friend but possible 2nd best).  Similar to how 616 MJ stayed with Peter when 616 Gwen died and making a impact with fans there a similar thing could of happened and shown for MJ and Gwen here showing thought her boosting and party girl 'Me' persona she sometimes comes off with she very much cares for others.  Then later MJ suppecting due to just knowing Gwen well that she is Ghost-Spider (I was about to writer Spider-Woman as a knee jerk as that Ghost Spider name still hasn't reeled me in to the point of sinking in my psyche).



Let me also take this time to post about another comics character that was shown a version on this show.  One that in her series showed and respected her local police in a better light. One whom I love and these posts are furthering my support: Kamala Khan (really her writer though who made her and the personality and respect in the series and characters and cast).  I don't know if others have read her first two tradebooks but I recall a great moment in her series that if she gets a movie I hope will happen (and if not in a live action MCU movie then maybe on this show by Kamala or by Gwen in some form after she is proven innocent):

Well hope you are feeling better.  As a fan of Gwen if you made anything Gwen lineart wise but don't feel like coloring it maybe I will (for practice during the very few minutes of free time I might have) thus making a collaboration plus less burned to carry if you feel like it.

Thank you . Things are getting a bit less stressful so I'm slowly starting to sketch things again, which is fun. I'll definitely let you know if there is a Gwen lineart that I havent colored yet. Right now I think that I currently prefer to go for either a Spider-Man or MJ related picture, once I'm feeling better.

Well I'm also a MJ fan (shocking a Gwen AND MJ fan!) so if you don't have the drive or feeling better I'll give her a try.  Anything that might help life a burden you feel plus might be fun to attempted.

I'm currently going back to college to earn a 2nd degree and trying for a 2nd chance in finding a career I would enjoy.  Classes start soon so it's going to be a balance of working a current retail job and working and studying hard for the classes and making projects for them.  But I'm doing ok thus far with hopes for a greater tomorrow.  Happy to hear from you and that things are less stressful.

We could both try! It certainly is more fun when you do it with other people. I also have a lineart of MJ that I could show you. I just didnt mention it since u only talked about Gwen and I didnt want to push my idea.

It's just that I really dont like the simplicity of the camera shot and the pose, as it's as basic as you could imagine and probably got to change in a few ways to make it somewhat appealing, atleast in my opinion.

I'll try and do MJ justice one day, by getting a decent lineart and hopefully coloring it.

Now back at college to earn a 2nd degree I don't have much time due to my assignments taking up all of my free time.
However just before going back I was testing a program called Picpro I think and used a few special picture editing effects tools to see how they might look.  Using a few I posted the different results here:

(note I also did one that did 'body temp readings' effect just as a way to separate the pictures in the file I was storing them in)

From 1-7 versions which special effects results picture style did you find fitting the most or mixture (I probably have to redo the font script over the effects unless I want it also to be affected by the effects choices)?

I'd personally go with the third and fourth one. I like the texture you see on the fourth picture, but I also like the warm colours on the third one.

While it does look simplistic looking it over has given me a idea.
In the 616 Spider-man comics Mary Jane wanted to be a dancer and actress (she was a good go-go dancer but supposedly just a mediocre actress).  This was during the time when Gwen was alive.  Back then you need to have physical recent 'headshots' to be given out as part of your acting resume.  This looks like such a headshot she would make a carry with her to hopeful gigs.  Grey scale and coloring headshots.
If current Mary Jane had these they might be outdated and she will need a new headshot (currently she's working as a assistant however and no indication she will try to be a actress agian).  Thus she might have stored in a cardboard box these headshots or tossed them.

Possible during coloring I might fade this to show age ( but to show a clue why MJ didn't toss it away a special messages was written on it not just details of her but a personal messages from friend wishing her luck written down)
