# About me
Hi, my name is Gerald and I have a weird professional background or at least I think I do. I was in broadcast radio as an on-air announcer for almost fifteen years and then I got into architecture for about a decade before the infamous recession took its toll on the construction industry. Capitalizing on a decade’s worth of experience with 3ds Max I became a free-lance 3D architectural illustrator in 2009 and have been free-lancing since then. A few years ago I decided to return to the world of academia to improve my existing skills and to learn some new ones that might lead me into profession number three. After seeing Star Wars as a kid I have always been interested in the special effects industry. When I was 12 years old I called John Dykstra at 20th Century Fox movie studio and asked him about the different effects that were in Star Wars. He could have easily said “Hey kid, I'm busy. Don’t bother me!” but he didn’t. Instead he took time from his busy schedule to answer all my questions. Something I’ll always remember.
My recent studies have furthered my 3ds Max and Photoshop skills far beyond that of simple delineations into the world of animation and have exposed me to software such as Maya, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Nuke, and Houdini.
I’m still taking a few courses here and there and in my spare time I work on creating 3D scenes that push my skills to a new level.
It is my goal that one day I become a full time 3D environmental visual effects artist.
Thanks for visiting my page and have a great day!
Gerald
