Most profile designs are only available for Core members.
My friend does have free designs for non-Core members in her gallery though: uszatyarbuz.deviantart.com/gal…

Our founder resigned from the group and had closed new members. We have a new founder Seopai , so the decision to reopen would be up to them. However, you can devwatch the group. It is not very active any more, I think submissions are all closed as well. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to run the group as it once was, but all the resources are available in our folders to refer to. And sometimes, people may still answer questions.

This may be a stupid question (I haven't worked with skins much, and not at all for about a year, so maybe I'm missing something obvious)... but are Google Fonts still working as they used to within DA journals? If I copy my old CSS from last year, the fonts don't show up in the preview anymore... (they do however show up in the skins that I have installed, which should have exactly the same CSS...). I don't have premium/core, so I can only test them in preview, but this didn't use to stop me from creating and testing out skins. Has this changed?
EDIT: Actually, they don't show up in my installed skins once I hit "preview", they only show up while I'm writing... now I'm getting worried that my old skins might be broken altogether?

Can you link me live examples? Maybe in your sta.sh. Notate what font is missing, they should work. I don't know which staff member is in charge of that, it was formerly kemayo
I won't be able to test as a non-core, but I can try and see if it works for me.

Before I go and make it: Is there a comprehensive guide for people who have a good to expert level of HTML with all of the CSS class that could be used, sections to be modified, and how much restriction is on a particular widget? Without going through a million tutorials?
I'm just finding a bunch of beginner level tutorials. I'm just asking before I put in the time to make it.

pica-ae In reply to tragicallyhipster [2016-05-04 14:13:41 +0000 UTC]
There is no up to date list with what is possible at the moment. A lot of HTML is hit and miss, most of CSS3 works on DA.
Custom classes are only supported when making journal skins. The most basic HTML is supported, the only thing I remember that did not work was definition lists and similar items.
For widget editing I suggest you go check out CustomizeYourProfile , they have a lot of tutorials and some overviews regarding profile design. Most of those are workarounds, though, re-using classes DA uses and not being officially supported by DA.
I hope this helps, even if it is not an easy answer

It took me a long time to work it all out, but I only had basic coding knowledge when I started.

Good question. Let's see, there are some more extensive walkthroughs that were done via journals rather than deviations, such as CSS-DYK articles. The group is mostly inctive now, sadly, but the articles are still available to peruse. Then pica-ae has some, maybe CypherVisor , ginkgografix and myself. (mine aren't really organized in a manner, some are journals, others deviations). However, I do not know of a tutorial with that particular subject offhand. The group was nice since we had subjects we would all contribute to, however it was a lot of work for it to keep going. LabLayers and im-not-sana are the current founders, if you wish to seek a revival, then they would be who to talk to. I had been adding brief tips and tutorial info to the end of CSS-Babes articles, but haven't been keeping up with that in a while. Life... I haven't been as active on dA as I used to. Also DevNews collected many useful journals, though as part as a bigger collection, so not sure how they have it organized. Check their favorites and group folders.

i was wondering if there is a tutorial on how to do anchor tags/links to a part of your journal like table of contents , so people can skip to a certain part of the journal?

VSConcepts In reply to arisaxkureno [2016-04-24 14:55:02 +0000 UTC]
That's a good question. The site makes use of it during official News Announcements, and depending on if you Beta Test or not, you can see the 'TOP' link for most pages within the site... I don't know if you can code that into a journal...

I don't know of a tutorial offhand that does it. There may be some HTML tips and tricks sites that can explain this more clearly than I. But basically, you give each link/anchor a unique name. Then your url will look like Uniquename so it directs to there. Making sure capitalization is the same. I like to use two words with each having a capital or just one word capitalized. But it doesn't really matter. Example Two The anchor would be written as without the # sign.
(empty space to demonstrate jump.)
(example without a visible link)
Example Two (as a link)
Please note, I'm not certain how well this works in comments to demonstrate. Hope this helps. (my comment in not long enough to really see the jump, but it moved a little)
