Hello, hows the Brewer display going? Sorry I haven't been down to have a look yet, but they joys of owning a car are hitting my wallet hard, just sorted one problem out then another happens. I still would like to get a print of the Cherry Bombed Out when I get paid.

It's the run up to Xmas now I guess, I think I'm at a band writing session this weekend I'm afraid, though I'm sure I can come out another weekend. And I swear at some point I will get a copy of Cherry Bombed Out.

the pub has been dead lately - so i guess its fairly reasonable to assume i wouldnt sell much - even open mic nights have been dead, and they are traditionally the busy day! cherry bombed out has proved to be by far the most popular picture - certainly to look at at least

Hi! A colleague at work knows you and recommended your work when I showed her the drawing I used to start my DA account the other week. I swang by to see and I must say I love the colour, fun, detail and intricacy of your work!

It's all got it's own unique feeling and style and the vibrancy of colour makes some of the pieces practically burst out of the page! It's very different from the realism (graphite) style i'm going for but i'm hoping to branch into painting too and have invested in some System-3 acrylics. Do you ever use acrylic wash technique to do the pieces that look like watercolour?

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

danevilparker In reply to CeejayShadow [2011-06-24 07:25:18 +0000 UTC]

i wonder who that is ?

ha ha, i will never be accused of following realism in my silly pictures, truth be known if i had the skills to do it id probably give it ago,but iam probably too lazy Everything i do comes out a little warped and tiny instead

i have used acrylics - and still do for textures, but i find the dangerous-go-wrong-at-any-second aspect of watercolours too appealing that and theyre quick and portable and clean. I also use spray cans for a lot of backgrounds and peel paint off it self to get layers for things.

i guess ive just gotten used to a certain way of working

šŸ‘: 0 ā©: 1

CeejayShadow In reply to danevilparker [2011-06-25 21:06:10 +0000 UTC]

ha! Well it's the 'warped' feeling that appeals to me and i'm sure lots of others so all is well I guess! Even though the individual elements are small they still ooze detail - the cat vs mouse pirate battle is hillarious by the way.

I experimented with an old art set I found in the loft but nothing was labelled and I assumed as there were traditional watercolour pans as well that the tubes were acrylic.....wrong After painstakingly doing a bottom layer and letting it dry I tried to add a glaze to the whole thing to tint the colour - only to have it all dissolve into a giant muddy mess because it was watercolour! >.< The whole experience kinda made me wary of watercolour lol

danevilparker In reply to CeejayShadow [2011-09-11 12:17:15 +0000 UTC]

watercolour is an unforgiving mistress, but the 'anything can happen' part creates some happy accidents sometimes sometimes your plans have to alter based on what you are given.SOme of the best ideas happen that way tho

Hey, been looking through your art work and you have a really strong style that I like. If you ever have any free time on your hands in the next few weeks, I would love for you to join me in a project Iā€™m currently working on with the theme of the exquisite corpse [link] . a link to explain what that is haha. But I would love to get a few random artists to work on a figure drawing (head, body and legs), much like the ones you have, in any media you choose and of anything you wish as long as it has those features I will then cut these images up (digital copies) to create an Exquisite corpse like image.

Let me know if your interested and ill give you more details if you wish
