Hi there. I'm writing this because I know of this Kickstarter project I think you might be interested in (assuming you have not already seen it). Someone on Kickstarter wants to restore old faded photographs of trains, and needs $1,500.00 in order to do so. The funding period ends tomorrow at 8:02 pm EDT. I decided to see if I could help out the project by letting a few railway enthusiasts here on DA about it in hopes that they would be interested in helping fund the project. If you are interested, here is a link to the Kickstarter page.

By the way, I apologize if I seemed weird by doing this. Again, just trying to help out this project. Sure, I could post a journal entry about the project, but I don't think many people would see it. So, I decided to spread the word like this. Still, sorry if I seemed weird.
That said, let me know what you think of the project, okay?

Looks very interesting. In fact it's what I am doing myself with my own collection and posting here for the same reasons.

Hi,
My two sons are huge train photography fans too. Could you vote on a Union Pacific Commercial Remake? It only takes a moment of your time and would really be helpful. He is using some of his favorite photographs that work for the commercial. Here is the website to vote: [link]
Thank you so much!

Hi there! Have you ever seen a railroad retriever before? My grandfather worked on the RR back in the late 40s; said they were some massive cranes that were called in to clean up wreckage, derailments, etc.
That was before my time though.

Sorry for the delay in response... been busy elsewhere.
In answer to your question... yes... in the USA we called them "the Big Hook" and I posted a photo of a small one some time ago. See [link]

I hear you, your're so welcome! Thank you! For faving and your suggestions, like scanning right from the negatives! So far I've scanned about 3 rolls, but I've been taking so many new pictures it's hard to choose what to submit. Hodgkins and IHB CP LaGrange have been very good to me this summer!

I always wonder hoe much reality there is in some of these movies. Some of the older ones (like "Silver Streak") were not very good. On the other hand the latest remake of "The Taking of Pelham 123" was VERY good.
