oh wow, i didn't know she was a teenager! i love precocious geniuses. what did Mike Leigh make? sadly i am not aware of him...his name sounds familiar though...

Mike Leigh's a sort of naturalistic director, generally making stuff about the english working class. His work is often a bit formless, and largely improvised (he works very closely with the actors and makes them go in character all the time, and they basically develop characters and plot together in workshops). His stuff started out a bit depressing but got a lot more comedy in it eventually. Good films are Abigail's Party (TV play), Secrets and Lies, Naked, Vera Drake and... well they're all definitely worht watching but there are f'ing loads. The most recent was Happy Go Lucky
