I would definitely recommend you the book. It's very cynical, then again it's also romantic. I found it to be an interesting read. It's about two lovers from two different countries separated by war, struggling to find each other once again. Sounds kinda sappy, but it's definitely not one of those trashy romantic over-the-counter type novels. (I've read Aldington's other book of short stories, he's just not the kind of author to write trash.) It's much more than that...
