What is the difference between Poser and DAZ 3D?Β  I use the DAZ program for all my people and poses.Β  Would Poser be easier to use?

I wish I could provide a comprehensive answer. I'm afraid I don't know Daz Studio very well. I can say this however. Daz Studio uses Genesis technology, which by every estimate and opinion (including mine) is a serious advance beyond the character mesh technology used in Poser. Further, the proper graphics card gives you access to Iray, a tremendously potent render engine. And there are scores of vendors who are devotedly making all kinds of products for Daz Studio. You must also bear in mind that Daz Studio is free, Poser is not. Admittedly, Daz Studio is challenging, its documentation is neither effective nor comprehensive; however, Daz Studio users are more than happy to help their comrades when asked. (Of course, the same is true of Poser users, but the point is: Daz Studio users, in spite of the poor documentation, are never on their own.)

Please understand that 3D is challenging. Whether you are using Daz Studio or Poser, Lightwave or Hexagon, Terragen or Bryce; you are facing a meaningful learning curve. That is simply a fact of 3D life.

Since you asked my opinion, you can have it. Buckle down on Daz Studio, learn it, pull your hair out when necessary, but don't give up on it. After six to eight months of serious endeavor with it, if you're still unsatisfied, download the Poser 30-day trial and give it a go. But don't switch software just because there are alternatives that seem easier (especially if the alternative costs money). Persevere. Stick to it. If you'd like an idea of what you can do with Daz Studio, I heartily recommend taking a look at the images posted here at DA by JPayne2017. I mean it seriously, have a look at his work, he uses Daz Studio.

After that, think it over. You'll have to work just as hard to get to his level using Poser as you would using Daz Studio. That's a stone-cold certainty.

Your outer space and Wonder Woman images are evidence of tremendous potential by the way. Just forget about Poser for the time being and learn more about how to manage Daz Studio. You've got the magic touch, just need a little know how and polish. (Like me!)

Thank you for the advice.Β  And I do have the Iray option so I guess my video card can handle it.

You're quite welcome. But PLEASE do have a look at JPayne2017. If you're thinking that Daz Studio cannot fill the bill or simply isn't worth the commitment, his work will persuade you otherwise.

Cheers
