Hey liz! Starting the blog was really just a spur of the moment thing. It would shock you seeing just how many people are actually open to learning the truth about these dogs. I've gotten my fair share of hate on the blog but there are so many people on there that arent ignorant fur mommy types. 
It's a good place to vent that's for sure lol.

I have one question though. I've been explaining to people what "pitbulls" are... first of not a "breed" unless it's a pedigree American Pit Bull terrier, then you can call it a pitbull... yet I believe there is a difference between a pedigree APBT and a "pitbull" as in "pitdog"(one that has actually been in the pit)... what do you think about it? People often refer to their dogs as pitbulls... it's hard to explain to them they're either mutts or AmStaffs, or SBTs or whatever. So I often tell them "you have a "pitbull-type" of dog" not a "pitbull". I know you posted an explanation about Bull-type terrier, but to me it seems people that don't know shit about APBTs or any lookalike, tend to understand it more if you tell them that AST/STB or their mutt is a pitbull-type yet not an actual pitbull..... 
--> especially when explaining mauling accidents with AST/STB/APBT crosses.... If you tell them it's not an american pit bull terrier, therefor not a pitbull, they don't get it. They simply don't fucking get it.  They do if you refer to them as pitbull-type (as in pitbull-look-alike) and that they should not label it as "pitbull" since it refers to an actual breed, but rather refer to it as "bull-mix" "pitbull-lookalike" "pitbull-type".
I might be wrong, yet I bet you can understand the frustration when it comes to explaining anything to regular-ignorant people. 
How would YOU explain it to someone that refers to anything with a big head, wide chest, sometimes cropped years and a "mean look" weather it's a bully or athletic dog, that it's not a "pitbull".... :/

From what I have learned from APBT people Pit Bull should only refer to the APBT where Bull Breed would refer to all Bull type breeds and mixes.
I think just saying Pit Bull-type would just further confuse people and that's something we as real advocates would want to avoid. I get asked all the time what my mutt is or what kind of "Pit" she is and I always say Bull Breed mix and let me tell some of the looks I get are funny...I get alot of WTF looks lol.

Pit Dogs would be a correct term for non fighting APBT's as well as fighting APBT's though!
When someone just does not get it I show them articles and meme's pertaining to what a real Pit Bull is and I explain to them that if they own an unpapered/unknown dog then they do not have a Pit Bull but a bull breed type mix. Sometimes people aren't open minded and want to be the "right" one all the time and it can get frustrating but those are people who simple refuse to learn and honestly I would not waste my breath on them.

Guess you're right on refering to them as bully-breed mix. But then trying to explain to people what a bully-breed is takes them back to calling them "pitbulls" all over again... It's really a huge waste of energy sometimes, but I can't control myself and keep trying untill I'm at the edge of asking them to check if they're retarded or something. 

The idea behind my "pitbull-type" referring is that first off, there were bull & terrier mixes fought in the pit = therefor "pitbulls". They bred them for certain exterior traits and character. When talking about pitbull-type of dog I see it as a dogs that would match the pitdogs on the OUTSIDE but not on the inside + not having a pedigree makes them a look-alike but far from what "pitbulls" are.... It's all very complicated to the simple minded and I'm really really trying to break it down as simple as possible. I don't even know why I'm putting so much effort into this xD  Still, if you think this way is wrong, tell me.
I might have to give up on my goal to explain pitbull history to regular people and use "bully breed mix" every time... It's not bad I guess, but it lacks in futher information.
