Hiya I love your vector work I was wondering if you would could ask for a request from you. I need a little help with my OC Nova Frosts cutie mark. (Β fav.me/d79mc2y ) Its a galaxy with 2 snowflakes.

I saw your galaxy 2 (Β yanoda.deviantart.com/art/Gala… )Β and figured something like it would be awesome for her mark but I have an older version of AI and can't edit the colors even if I was able to ask to use it.Β

If you could help out that would be awesome. Thank you and hope to hear from you.

Hello, I am gathering together a ragtag team of talented people to do a few MLP animations, and I see you are quite skilled with vectors and images. I was wondering if you would like to join my team, we need all the people we can get! You can keep any assets you want from the projects, I just need people who can help and provide what is missing.

Hello JamesOfHoenn,

unfortunately I do not have time to partake in such a project (hence the late reply).
I wish you luck with your project.

Cheers

I recommend going to the %MLP-VectorClub 'sΒ List of People who take Requests and Commissions Journal and contact one of those artists concerning your request.

Hey can I ask for your help on Adobe Illustrator?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yanoda In reply to ShadyHorseman [2013-06-08 23:42:47 +0000 UTC]

Sure.
From what I heard, it is about export issues, correct?
Some info that can help me understand what the cause/issue may be:
- How much RAM do you have for your PC? There should be no Memory issues for 4Gb or more RAM for exporting large PNGs.
- Which way do you export - with 'File > Save for Web' or just 'File > Export'?
- Explaining some details on what settings you made before export (ppi value for example) and what happens just before or during the crash.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShadyHorseman In reply to Yanoda [2013-06-09 00:01:00 +0000 UTC]

As far as RAM goes I think I had about 32 GB.

Now when it came to exporting the file I used the "Save As" to export them.

Btw I don't have any issues when making my vectors as PNGs. Right now I'm doing that on Inkscape.
I'm asking this so that I don't have to switch between programs a lot.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yanoda In reply to ShadyHorseman [2013-06-09 11:18:40 +0000 UTC]

OK, this helps a lot.

I recommend trying to export in a different way in Illustrator.
Go to File -> Export... [link]

Then a window should pop up [link]
Select the folder you wish to save it at and make sure to select PNG in the "Save as type" selection.
If you wish to export with the Artboard area, check-mark the box next to "Use Artboards"
Click Save.

Now, a new window shows up. [link]
Here you can set the size for the export in the resolution selection. 72ppi is the default resolution of your Vector. This means, if your Vector has a resolution of 700 x 600 pixels, setting at 72 ppi resolution export will create a PNG image of 700 x 600 pixels. This is the same when using Artboard area for export. Setting the ppi to 144 (72 x 2) the resolutions will be doubled (1400 x 1200 pixels).
Make sure to set the Anti-Aliasing to 'Type-Optimized' and selecting background should be a given

Once everything is set up, just click 'OK', depending on the size of the export, it can take between a few seconds to several minutes (for extreme resolutions).

Hope this helped. Let me know if you would also like to know how to export with 'File -> Save for Web'.

ShadyHorseman In reply to Yanoda [2013-06-10 04:29:55 +0000 UTC]

Alright it works out.
Thanks for the help.

Btw, if you export a vector file at 300ppi it would make PNG files 3k x 3k high resolution right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yanoda In reply to ShadyHorseman [2013-06-10 12:08:38 +0000 UTC]

Glad this worked.

Setting the export at 300ppi will not automatically set the resolution to 3k x 3k.
As I said before, setting at 72ppi for export is the default size of the vector resolution.
For instance, I made an artboard (since I prefer exporting with the artboard) that is 500 x 850 pixels [link] (the actual vector is slightly smaller but I prefer exporting in even numbers).
So, setting the export ppi value to 72ppi (default) with 'Use Artboard' enabled, will create an export PNG image with resolution of 500 x 850 pixels.
A ppi value of 144 (2 x 72) will result in an exported PNG image of 1000 x 1700 pixels.
Setting the ppi value of 300ppi for the artboard export will export a PNG image with 2083 x 3542 pixel resolution. [link]

I'll inform you how to use the 'Save for Web...' export. Go to File -> Save for Web...
A window should pop up with a preview of your vector. [link]
Make sure PNG-24 is set at the top right-hand corner.
Check mark transparency if you want a transparent background.
Set the Anti-aliasing to Type Optimized at the bottom of the 'Image size' section (below Percentage)
'Clip to Artboard' will set the resolution to the artboard.
Now, you can manually set the resolution size by either inputting the pixel resolution you want for either width or height (if you allow proportions to be retained, the other value will be automatically adjusted).
You can also just input the percentage value you want (100% is default, 200% is double the size, 300% is triple the size etc.)
Wait for the Program to update the new size, if it doesn't do it, you have to input a different size value and back to what you want (small bug). Then click 'Save' and select the location you want the image to be exported to and the name of the file.

Do remember that 'Save for Web...' has a limit as to the size you can export an image with it. Some have a limit of maximum 4000 pixels, for me it is about 8100 pixels. Using File -> Export normally doesn't have a limit with the export size.
