You're very much welcome, it was amazing! I love the texture of the image. You've inspired me to drag out some of my watercolor stuff. Problem is I can't really take anything painting wise with me to my college dorm. So it all has to stay home.

Oh man, Tamsen. This chick reminds me of those PETA freaks. =\ Suddenly she decides what's art and what isn't. She's got some balls on her, eh?

Actually, I skinned him. You don't exactly peel a deer's hide (not skin) off due to the millions of fibers that hold the hide to the muscles. [grins] And actually, he will be art, this is work in progress (WiP) which I should have said. It's just a step in the process of creating a perfectly cleaned and polished skull of an animal I respect for being my first true kill of it's species.
Now, if I was a sick, twisted type of person I would have posted hideous remains of the animal burning, or maybe the after effects of burning, or I would have poked it's eyes out to show the nicely viscous fluid that starting to decompose into a greenish yellow color. It's completely artistic, maybe I'll post the steps it takes to actually get a nicely cleaned, whitened, and laquered skull on here. It's also a pretty lucrative business if you're good at it.
When you say 'hideous remains' you're actually insulting the deer itself, so you should probably apologize. This is just Phil's muscular structure after his hide has been removed, nothing more, except for maybe the few maggots living in the base of his skull.
Further more, to feel 'sorry for the deer' I can see. But seeing as how I shot him through the spine and out the shoulder blade, I see no point in feeling sorry for the creature. It was giving the most painless death imaginable. Now if I wanted to feel sorry for the animal, I might have mis-judged my bearings on my rifle and have gut shot him. Then he would have lain there suffering till I walked up and shot him through the back of the neck.
Now, if you're just a person that is against hunting in general, why don't you look up some of the cattle ranches were your $50 steak came from and look at the nice, cramped, damp, poo-riden, enviroment that they live in till they are 'humanely' shot in the head point-blank. Doesn't that sound like a nice life? Oh, poor Phill here lived in the wild, grew up there, and died there, I see that as a way more wonderful life than that cow had.
If you're a vegetarian you should look up how many animals a day are killed due to the 'special' food (meaning, marked vegetarian) vegetarians eat every day.
Thanks, not trying to be rude here just stating a point. Have a nice day!

WolvenDeath In reply to Zhon [2006-10-07 04:04:35 +0000 UTC]
Lmfao. You'd need a freeze dryer to make the ones with flesh, and when I looked at the pricing online. They're around a grand to ten. Depending on the size and quality.

Zhon In reply to WolvenDeath [2006-10-07 04:10:52 +0000 UTC]
Or just find a guy with a freeze dryer and send it to him. I send all my duckies to Edgewater Taxidermy to get freezedried!
I had no idea CCT used a freezedryer (if they do). I thought they sculpted muscly gore over a clean skull. This means you can't wear it in the shower or in the rain ro it'll rehydrate and get soggy!
(I left a duckling outside on a porch table... it rained... he didn't smell too good.....)
