Hey there!Ā
I went really wide at first, doing several sketches of several types of characters. One of my coworkers said some kind of rag or mechanical doll might be a neat option, so I included a sketch of one and the designers and rest of the art team really dug it. From there I just brought in the Victorian, steampunk, and goth influences I loved and tried to create a very occult, darkly magical vibe for her. The giant key is a motif I'd come up with before for our Striders, and I thought a ghost key would be a great way to represent possession by Mina and her control over others.Ā
