Hey don't know if anyone is quite alive here? I write for an Ottawa-based blog site called The Nerd is the Word. We are looking for writers who like to write about anything they fancy, so long as it's nerdy/geeky- from fantasy to sci-fi to superheroes.

Hey!

I offer photo manipulation commissions and to those who live in my area/can get there (Ottawa/Gatineau in Canada) I also offer a photoshoot and this is how it works:

Star! Star! Star! Star! Star! You picture what you'd like as a photo manipulation with yourself as the model, we meet up at a public place (museum usually), we do a photoshoot with the appropriate poses you'd like that would match with the theme of the manipulation you chose and from there, I do the rest digitally and you get your photo manipulation that you can use in a portfolio as well as anywhere online (some terms apply) that has you featured as the model Aww Aww Aww Aww Aww

The cost is not much, there is no fixed price, so it makes it easier to negotiate for your needs! :) (Smile)

They do print art, and the prices aren't too bad. Just make sure you talk to someone who knows their stuff :) (Smile) And if possible stick around to make sure they do it the way you need it done!

Definetly a worthwhile photographer to check out! Very nice couples shots, to mom and baby and macro!

Hey Ottawa Deviants, just a quick question, does anyone know of a local company that hosts web sites? It's getting close to time I have own site, (even though deviant art is a lovely site too) and I'd prefer a local company. Anyone have any leads?

While supporting local business is always great, I found myself on this very same search over a year ago when the store I was working for decided to make a website and have me design it. Pickings were slim, and package deals were outrageously expensive, even on the non 'you are representing a business and therefore we charge more' front.

The store owner ended up being talked into going with Bell Canada (when a rep dropped in on a day I was out sick). They do have local offices, but their packages were crazy expensive, and their customer service was utter crap. Nothing like waiting on the phone for three hours, being bounced from department to department because whoever set up the account didn't set it up as per my specifications!

Honestly, if you haven't picked something else already, go with Dreamhost. It's extremely simple, has a lot of functions, unlimited space/bandwidth, cheap, easy to host multiple .coms and excellent, prompt customer service. I've been with them for my own personal webspace for 5 years, and I've never had a day where I wished I was with anyone else.

We could discuss upcoming art related events in Ottawa, stuff like that... I dunno. I'm sure we could come up with some good ideas.

As for adding, notice the empty "Featured" folder.

("This folder does not have any deviations yet!")

We certainly could and I urge anyone who has something to discuss to do so. Real life has killed my time on DA to near nothing, which is why the 'What's Happening' link in the journal hasn't been updated in a long time. Then again, no one has sent me any info of events either.

Completely removed the Featured folder since it wasn't being used anyhow. Favourites serves our purposes for now.
