Valhalla tower docking control to unidentified approaching vessel...I have been a die-hard Descent'r since my childhood and, to make a long story short, thanks to projects like ReBirth I was able to relive those awesome memories. After beating both Descent I and II, I was so overtaken with nostalgia that I wanted... heck, needed to pay some form homage to these awesome games.
As a 3D artist I decided to put my skills to work and hence The Ascent Project was born as a complete modern remake of every single character model of the series.
It should be noted that despite having taken artistic liberties I make a point to preserve both the concept and “soul” of the original in-game models.
This project has become quite dear to me and I hope you enjoy my recreations as much as I have enjoyed creating them.

First, your models look AWESOME!! Great job!!
Secondly...how would you like your models to be in a modern remake of Descent? There's a guy who just started making a new Descent using the Unreal Engine 3 and he needs content. I've already sent him a link to this site, so I figured I'd send you his way as well. Here's his site: [link]
Thirdly (so I guess technically more than a "couple" things), have you heard of Retrovirus? It's a new 6DOF game coming out and the developers are huge Descent fans

I am really glad that somebody who have the skills finally decided to make a project like this. Descent really deserves this, as well as the people who love this game. When I was younger I made a few real life 3D robots from Descent (Guide bot, P.E.S.T., Gopher, spider pod, omega, and the fire boss). I actually decided back then to make every single robot from the game but after a while my time didn't allow me to continue my project. Another thing that I had difficulties with making the textures for the robots in absence of photoshop skills.
Why am i saying this?
Dont give up! appreciate your modelling skills and finish this beautiful hommage for one of the best games of all time. I support you, as well as every single Descent fan out the world i guess (:
