I hope you read these two fanfic here, because they rewrite the story of Star Fox Adventures so that Krystal doesn't get captured, and instead, she travels with Fox and battles at his side. She still falls in love with Fox, but now their relationship gets dramatically fleshed out, and becomes only a mere part of her character. And there, she does live up to her potential. The writer even called it "Star Fox Adventures the way it should have been!"
