Ew, that's pretty gross. I guess, after you take away taxes, I'm kind of working under minimum wage too? But that's still better than nothing at all. My supervisor just let me know yesterday that I could start bringing my laptop, which is why I can now check DA and Gaia a lot more. (Though it's no use if I can't bring a tablet --that would be too blatantly unproductive though.)
DUUUUDE. The graphics are holding me back from opening a shop. Like, the only reason. And I can't pay other people to do it, because then I just won't like it, and will pay them, but not use the layout they made. Ugh.

ugh.. for me, the boss paid everyone in cash so there were no tax deductions, and so we couldn't do anything about it. =/
The starting pay was $5/hr, and for the people that worked there for 2 years, they got raised up to $8.75, which was the minimum wage. =A=

Lol. I'm doing this undergraduate summer research program, where I work in a lab for 10 weeks on a single project. So I'm doing viral immunology, and between procedures there is A LOT of free time. And they have spare desks. And my supervisor is Chinese, as I am, and knows my mom so it's pretty cool. They're not friends, so it's not nepotism, just more of a..."we're Asian, and thus know every other Asian that works here!" kind of thing.
But yeah. Um. $5 an hour is WRONG. Though I knew a friend who worked for around that much, but that was in her own parent's family business, so it was cool. No taxes, ftw.

No. haha. I have friends who are waiters who can make more than me, sometimes working less hours. But that's more of a tips thing. but it's a good job. <3
