hi, thanks so much for your kind comment, I find it really amusing that you read Krishnamurti, see I studied in a school founded by him, a school that follows his principles and teachings...

Hi Rakshar, thanks for the warm welcome! I've just finished Uni, perhaps the campus you see is Copenhagen city

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rakshar In reply to SuperOli [2005-06-12 04:43:29 +0000 UTC]

did you study in Australia? mind if i ask what?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SuperOli In reply to Rakshar [2005-06-12 12:09:33 +0000 UTC]

I'm Australian, was on holiday in Copenhagen whilst studying exchange in the UK, studying medical engineering. And you? study?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rakshar In reply to SuperOli [2005-06-13 00:51:24 +0000 UTC]

Sure do! Study at University of Toronto, I'm doing a research specialist in Biological Psychology, hoping to do Graduate in Cognitive Neuroscience. Don't know where i'm going to grad school, but hey.
Are you graduate or are you working?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SuperOli In reply to Rakshar [2005-06-13 05:11:39 +0000 UTC]

Very cool, i love psychology, though i'm more of an analytical person myself. Well i'm looking for a job but due to the specialist nature of my degree there aren't many in Australia. So i'm at a crossroads of whether i get a job overseas (much easier said than done), study more (i'd love to study psychiatry but don't think i could handle another 11 years of uni), or just keep on trying here in Oz. Time will tell...

So i assume biological psychology and cognitive neuroscience both follow a more physical psychology...?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rakshar In reply to SuperOli [2005-06-13 06:40:41 +0000 UTC]

yes, definately physiology. I'm more interested in the neural networks, their manifestation in cognition etc. I am roudning out with some psychotherapy, but I generally prefer the bio basis. I'm interested in research, but I wouldn't mind doing clinical diagnostics or research through therapy on patients (like brain damage, etc).
Biological psychology are those psychologies that deal with neuroanatomy and physiology of the brain. Cognitive Neuroscience deals with the manifestation of neural networks; thoughts, perception, consciousness... there both physical, just in different ways.

when you say medical engeneering, what do you mean? like genetics? or do you mean tools/equipment that are utilized in medicine?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SuperOli In reply to Rakshar [2005-06-13 06:52:30 +0000 UTC]

Cool, that's what i thought. medical engineering is the design of devices for use within or without the body such as heart valves, prosthetics, anything surgical etc... Curiously enough though i'm more interested in psychology at the moment, one starts to understand things that most will never and i love that

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Rakshar In reply to SuperOli [2005-06-14 01:03:32 +0000 UTC]

There's no market for that in australia? I would think the medical industry in any country would be it's top priority....

Definately an intrigue, psych is. I find it amazing to see what "makes us tick", but in such polysymous ways. Do you have MSN?
