Something I immediately noticed is that it's really fucking hard to get into at first. I much prefer Saints Row IV. Also I'm making a comic for Science! that involves brownies. Do you call them something different?Β

Really? Hm... I've had about four different games, so I can't really say I have that problem. xD
Ah, I've never played that.
Nope. Brownies are brownies. :3

DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2014-02-13 22:30:59 +0000 UTC]
What do you mean you've had about 4 different games? I've had my PS3 for a few weeks and I already have 11 games for it.
You should play it. It's really fun. It's sorta like a Sci-Fi version of GTA.
Ah thank you, I just wanted to make sure. I mean there are always some funny names for things over there. Like calling a zip code "post code". Oh us Americans could never think of something so delightfully absurd.

...About four different games on Skyrim. As in, with four different characters. I think we have over 20 games for the PS3 in general? I dunno.
Mayhaps I will. Mayhaps I will...
You're welcome.
You know, I still don't understand why you call it a 'zip code'. Why do you do it? 'Post code' makes so much more sense!

Yea it's kinda... I don't know either.

Nope. Never played as an Argonian. I don't really want to, either. They creep me out.
On my first game I was a Nord. I also have an Orc game, but my current one is as a Khajiit. :3 Maybe I only have three games after all...
Hmm. Words are weird.

Granted, they're not the most attractive looking species on the game, but they're attributes and stuff match the type of character I tend to play as (the sneaky archer type), so they suit me fine~ :3
Ah, it's what the Khajiit trading caravan owners say when you engage them in conversation. That and things like "May your roads lead you to warm sands" after you trade with them.

It's boring, I have no idea where to go, other games get you into the action immediately like Saints Row IV and Resident Evil 4.
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2014-02-22 21:38:37 +0000 UTC]
And Skyrim doesn't get you straight into the action? You're heading towards your own execution, you get attacked by a dragon, you have to try and escape a burning town being ransacked by a rampaging winged reptile, you get to kill things within the first five minutes and you hear spectacular voice acting. If that's not getting you straight into the action, I don't know what is. I mean, sure, you have to make yourself first, but that's part of the fun. Your game is unique to /you/. No-one else anywhere is going to have exactly the same character as you. The whole 'not knowing where to go' part is great to. You can go wherever the hell you want. Any place, any direction. Don't want to do the main quest straight away? That's A-OK, go in the opposite direction and find another one. There's so much freedom to the game it's almost unbelievable. There's a whole world at your fingertips and you can go anywhere you want. What's boring about that?
(I will defend this game to the death. Don't think I won't.)
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2014-02-23 00:02:34 +0000 UTC]
Yea that's pretty much just a cutscene. You don't get to fight the dragon or anything.Β
There still needs to be a way to fucking know what you're supposed to fucking do. "Go to Whiterun" Simple enough. "Talk to the Jorl of Whiterun" Okay, who's the Jorl? Is there any indication? Any? At all?Β
Look I'm not saying it's a bad game, it looks good. I'm just legitimately infuriated by how unclear it is with it's quests. In a more straightforward game like Saints Row IV, they give you a minimap PLUS directions to where your next quest is. So you can dick around and still be able to find where the stuff is.

Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2014-03-02 19:36:19 +0000 UTC]
All in good time. All in good time.
There are arrows that tell you where you need to go on the little world map at the top of the screen. They're the white ones? Just follow those. Of course, you have to have the quest activated in your journal in order for them to show up. But there are definitely things that tell you what to do/where to go. (Also, it's Jarl. I'm sorry.)
Hmm... are you sure you've selected the quest you want to do in your journal? If you go on the world map, it'll also tell you where you need to go.
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2014-03-02 19:47:09 +0000 UTC]
Yea but that's good time that could be spent playing a different game.
Yea, but how come I have to keep checking the map every time I need a direction? In any good game there's a mini-map in the corner of the screen so you don't have to tediously go back to find the map. (You should be sorry, seeing as how I already knew that.)
I couldn't tell anyways, I can barely read the small-ass text on my shitty 7-year-old, standard-definition TV.
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2014-03-02 20:08:53 +0000 UTC]
Perhaps. You fight your first dragon fairly early on, though, and from that point on they can turn up any place, any time, completely out of the blue.
There is a mini map. It's the long, thin bar in the top middle of the screen that has lots of icons (that tell you what locations/places you're close to), letters (that tell you what direction you're facing/are headed in) and arrows. Just turn around until the white arrow is in the middle of the bar and start walking in that direction. It's relatively straight-forward.
Ah, well. I can't help you with that.
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2014-03-02 20:14:23 +0000 UTC]
Well that's a game mechanic that seems incredibly flawed.
Are you kidding me? Why is the fucking thing one-dimensional? 2 DIMENSIONS ARE NEEDED FOR A MAP.
Can't help me with my TV, can you? Can you help me with my E.D.?
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2014-03-02 20:17:52 +0000 UTC]
Nah, it's great. They're not common or anything, which is why it's a very "oh, crap, it's a dragon" moment when they do turn up. It's fun. :3
Idunno *shrug* It just is. It takes a little while to get used to, but after a while it's fine. Or at least, it is for me and lots of other people.
Alas not. E.D.? Am I supposed to know what that is...?

DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2014-03-02 20:21:32 +0000 UTC]
But... Dragons are like boss-level challenges aren't they?
Bethesda, they program the largest fucking game ever and yet they can't handle two dimensions for their mini-maps. I'm going to kill them.
I have troubles... Down there. With erectile dysfunction.
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2014-03-03 21:39:51 +0000 UTC]
Technically, yes. Which is why it's a definite 'ohcrapit'sadragonrunawayreallyfastaaaaaahhhh' kind of moment when one turns up.
Mind you, there are different types of dragon that have different levels of difficulty to them. If I recall correctly it goes Dragon, Frost/Bronze Dragon, Ancient Dragon, Named Dragon (Odahviing, Paarthurnaax Alduin etc. I'm pretty sure I spelt the first two wrong...).
Aww, Bethesda's cool. They made Dishonoured. My Dad likes that game. :3

I lost it at 'eggplant'. xDD
That question was a joke, right? Please say it was.
Also, yup, a British Metalhead. We're the best kind. ^_\\
I'm going to ignore that last comment.
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2013-11-27 21:42:16 +0000 UTC]
I wanna know when it stops being accurate. Post code sounds right. But I don't think that last one is entirely accurate.
Metalheads are disgusting creatures. Not you though, your very clean. But yea metal is the worst kind of music. Except for country. But you don't have to concern yourself over country music, it's more of an American thing.
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2013-11-27 22:11:16 +0000 UTC]
The first two are correct. Everything after "Fall-Autumn" is complete rubbish. xDD Hilarious, brilliantly amusing rubbish.
Not entirely true. Granted, some of them are fairly foul, but that can be said for any group of fans.Β
Ah. Clearly you've been listening to the wrong kind of metal. European power metal is where it's at, my friend. That and Die So Fluid. They rock.
I happen to quite like some forms of country music. The TV show Firefly uses it excellently.
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2013-11-27 22:17:21 +0000 UTC]
So British people DON'T have ridiculously stupid names for things? I don't know what to believe anymore.
Especially Bronies.
Well I don't voluntarily listen to heavy metal. It just happens to come up. Die so Fluid?
Country music is just... it's horrid. Just... I mean I hate everything country. Western movies are the worst too (besides chick-flicks). And Firefly... I don't even know what that's about.

Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2013-11-27 22:28:31 +0000 UTC]
Hehe, no, we don't. And now watch as everything you thought you knew about the world crumbles to dust before your very eyes. Mwuhahaha and all that.
Mmm. I presume that's MLP-related? I don't watch the show (or know anything about it), so I'm in the dark on matters concerning it.
Ah, but why not? It's wonderful. Power metal is, anyway.Β
M-hm. Die So fluid. They're a British rock band. Take a look:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PJdHzβ¦
I dunno. Some of it I like. The guitar riffs, fiddles/violins and stuff.
Ah, Firefly's great. One of the best sci-fis ever. Go watch it. Like, right now. It's such a shame Fox cancelled it. It was way too good.

Just wait until you realize the majority of America is not overweight.
But yea Bronies are for the most part scum. That's coming from someone who is one.
Never heard of them. Nor do I want to.
No. I never watch shows with obsessive fans. Except Doctor Who and MLP.
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2013-12-01 22:02:01 +0000 UTC]
...I already knew that? I mean, granted, your portions are a lot larger than ours, but that doesn't make you all overweight.Β
I've never bothered with the show, so I have no opinion whatsoever. Besides, it's hardly ever on over here anyway, so I've never had chance to.
Eh, fair enough. Your loss, is all I can say.
Ah, but that's just the thing. The show doesn't have enough fans! I mean, sure, the ones it does have like it a lot, but we're the cool kind of fan. Besides, it is a seriously good show. I think you'd like it.
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2013-12-01 22:30:32 +0000 UTC]
We're big boys we need big portions.
Well there's always YouTube. I won't pressure you to watch it like most fans.
If it's heavy metal I know I'm not missing much. FUUUUUUCK FUUUUUUUUCK SHIIIIIIIT DEEEEEEEEEEEATH FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
Nah. I don't like shows that are not animated or requested by someone else. People wouldn't shut up about The Walking Dead so I never decided to watch that.
π: 0 β©: 1
Squiddy-chan In reply to DigbyTheGoat [2013-12-02 21:41:34 +0000 UTC]
Fair enough, I suppose.
True, true. I think I'll be OK without, so I'm gonna pass on that one. xD
It's not all like that, you know. Over in America it might be, but here in Europe it's much more diverse~ I tend to stay away from Black/Death/Screamo metal/rock anyway. It's just taking it too far, in my opinion.
Ah, well. I tried. I've never watched it either. I have a fear of TV/film/game zombies (they're way too icky) so I steer clear of stuff like that. Books zombies are fine, as long as they aren't described in graphic detail. Heh. ^_^;
Don't you dare try and taunt me with some kind of evil zombie picture or something.
π: 0 β©: 1
DigbyTheGoat In reply to Squiddy-chan [2013-12-02 21:54:09 +0000 UTC]
Americans are always fair.
I just tried Homestuck. People have been pressuring the shit out of me and instead of fighting back I decided "Fuck it".
Oh wait hold on then. *ahem* TEEEEEEEEEEA CRUMPEEEEEEEEEET DR WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CARTOONS THAT ARE WAY TOO FUCKING VIOLEEEEEEEEEEEENT
Never got the point of zombies or action in books. I dunno maybe some of the action is lost when it's being carefully described instead shown on a screen.
Now I know your weakness.

Ah, but that's just the thing, see. It's all up to your imagination! ^.^
Mm. Quite.
