And yeah, I think a lot about cutting out unnecessary details. A Pascal* quote that keeps to mind for me, and it goes "If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter".

I presume you said all this because you read my largest work, "House Black"? What's currently on my AO3 is not the final product but a work in progress. When the story (or at least the current arc) has wrapped up, its co-author and I will go over it with great diligence, and then likely publish its final form, complete with its last several chapters, on somewhere like Amazon. The chapters that are currently up and the next ones that are still to come will probably remain online for free forever, but we'll probably save the ending only for those who are willing to pay a small amount to purchase the full book on Kindle or wherever it ends up.

Oh and by the way, I have so far proofread everything by myself. Nearly every chapter of House Black has been re-read and revised probably at least three times, and I'm still not done. Thanks for your advice tho!


*quote may not actually be from Pascal. origin of it is pretty fuzzy, but as I understand it the earliest written example of something close to that comes from Pascal

And I hear you on your parables about the 100 and Jessica Simpson, but I'm really not terribly worried about that. I just wanna put stories out there, and I'm not gonna lose sleep over people who get popular off stories that are similar to mine. If they're more blatant examples of theft, those can always be settled in court.

Yeah, I figured you read the things I linked to. But which things? For the most part I think the general struggle in my writing is going too fast and not giving painting pictures of the scenes well enough. So I was a little surprised to hear you recommend that I cut out the fluff of my writing, since I was already fairly sure it had very little.

If all you did was skim my writings so you could give me a little advice that's fine too btw

Thanks for your suggestions! After consulting my copy of the Chicago Manual of Style as well, I've made some changes based on your recommendations.

To correct the correction, however, it seems that the correct way to write the following excerpt, at least according to CMoS 17, would be "Her mood again swung up, however, as she inferred that she wouldn’t have to see Captain Collins at this meeting." (with the second comma after "however").
