Yes, indeed, things change. I got into Rush before I knew anything about the fans or whatnot. All I knew was what they produced, and I loved it! It never occurred to me that it would appeal more to guys than ladies. When I went to my first concert last August I was shocked to see I was one of only a handful of teenage girls.

I'd say the change is a a good thing, though. Or, at the least, it's certainly not bad! More diversity and exposure's excellent. Personally, I don't get why more women aren't into Rush.

Keep this in mind, though, too: It's cool to be "geeky" these days. People are realizing that.

Yes, I agree. It's good to see the band attracting a wider audience, and indeed it is cool to be geeky nowadays. It wasn't in the early 70's though (I'm nearly 50 you see). Back then I really was a geek...still am probably.

RUSH have always written really good "songs", but seemed to get tarred with the self-indulgent/intellectual brush which was a shame.

I've just been listening to their "Snakes and Arrows" album and am gradually getting into it. They're playing better than ever, and still have that unique RUSH sound.

Well, while I'm obviously not nearly as.. wizened as you are in terms of years, I'd like to think that part of the reason is that some people in my generation are saying, "Hey, a lot of modern and mainstream music kind of sucks. What else is out there?" and discovering bands like Rush. I discovered them through my dad (my mom appreciates 'em too, not like my dad and I though!) but I see no shame in that. He just happens to have good taste in music, haha.

Hm, yeah, primarily for Neil's lyrics. I don't mind it, obviously. It's nice to see a "smart" rock band out there. And so versatile, too!

You'd be surprised how many S&A haters there are out there. It's kind of sad, but I suppose to each his own. I liked it.

Actually, I wish I was your age again. The Internet didn't exist when I was young. In fact, I still remember when we got our first colour TV then a video player! DVDs are far better than VHS, but I still have loads of videos. I did buy "Exit Stage Left" on VHS on its release. It was great.

Sure, it's a shame the Internet wasn't around then, but I still have the original programmes for RUSH's "Hemispheres", Permanent Waves", and Hold Your Fire" tours. It was amazing to see the band live at these times. A really big deal. Great memories.

Sadly, I lost all my vinyl copies of their albums - I was moving around a lot, and they gradually got left somewhere. The CDs sound good, but there is something more organic about LPs. Buying a RUSH album was an occasion, and it was great to admire all the artwork and sleeve notes. I've always loved Neil's lyrics, even though his early ones were slightly abstract.

Yes, S&A is good but I didn't like "Vapour Trails" at all. In saying that, I enjoyed their "Live In Rio" DVDs. I've bought nearly every DVD they've released. I loved "Beyond The Lighted Stage". It was interesting listening to what other famous musicians said about RUSH. I liked what Billy Corgan said. He was spot on.

Yes. It's always good to meet another RUSH fan. Do you play an instrument by any chance?
