I just saw your drawing of totoro, the doc, and yourself on the other site. That is so fuckin' dope. This is one of the many reasons I love your work. You've been able to come up with a character concept for him that works really well. I have been entirely unable to do that, in spite of trying for hours.

I'm more or less speechless, except for the observation that your skill level is very advanced. I did not have the same sophisticated level of speech or humor at your age, much less your artistic abilities at your age. I look forward to watching a prodigy.

I appreciate your modesty, but I have quite a bit of authority as an art critic, because I don't look at artwork as one looks at a patch of grass or a political cartoon. I look at technique, personal style, originality, enthusiasm, and, most importantly, which almost no so-called experts can recognize, I look at potential. I look at every artist as what s/he is doing and what s/he could be doing.
I was hoping that you could explain to me the themes you use. Why all the darkness, gore, mutilation/mutations and preoccupation with the flesh? I ask because your use is clearly subtle and introspective. Whereas with a deviant artist like sachsen, his use of gore is overt and it's purpose is obvious.

Well, to be honest It's a bit hard to explain, and the way I can explain it makes me feel rather pathetic, haha;
I guess I just draw my feelings, and a lot of my feelings are about being very conflicted about who I am, which is rather cliche.
I used to feel like I had no control over my life. I felt trapped.
I would cut myself because It gave me control of my feelings, I cut my hair because it gives me control of my appearance.
Since I truly hate when I'd cut myself, I guess I kind of switched it over into my art? Using personas I could do anything to without dealing with the scars.
It kind of all has to deal with little things in my life I couldn't control, or things I wish I did differently.
Gonna be honest here, even if it's stupid, but Marilyn Manson is a bit of an idol to me, and NOT his music and lyrics. They way he talks and how he thinks interests me. His views on spirituality and how people view things. I dunno. I might just be an impressionable teenage girl looking for something to believe in so I can justify what I see around me and my feelings.

Brian Warner is a genius, obviously. Look at how he can manipulate the press and the public. I do genuinely admire him as a shrewd businessman. As for his lyrics, I was rather surprised at how sophisticated they are in "Beautiful People." In this song, he says precisely what capitalists do not want to know, and there is a lot to be said for the remedies he offers in that song, whether he offers them facetiously or not.

Yes, yes. I have most of his CD's and one of my favorite songs is Heart Shaped Glasses for personal reasons.
He's very good with making people think about things differently.

A lot of people follow Manson as an excuse not to think, just as a lot of people use the major western religions as an excuse to commit sins now.
