Also, I like the details on her clothing muchly. If I go back to the image, you'd think that it'd be the natural integration of ze rainbow hair which catches my eye, but no: it is the sleeves and her jawline.

Well, it's always a pleasure to please.
Something that stood out about it was the eyelids of the man. The delicate play of light on the upper lid and the lucid midtones slipped on the crease of skin just above it are the sort of gradient effects that attract my attrention, as it the soft line of shadow that runs between the pair. It's mostly the way the light washes over finer details, casting them in or out of shadow to create a visually engaging landscape, within the larger photograph. A similar effect is apparent in the shadow beneath his jaw, just above the Adam's apple, as well as the hair brushed back over his ear. And about the hair-- it has the additional effect of adding pattern with highlights, whatwith the way it loops in a simple, natural fashion, then assumes a straight fall down (bar the waves of hair on his shoulder). With its thinner, coarser texture, hair also had the added effect of mixing up the textures present in the piece.
So yes, tis all. Sorry 'bout the mini-essay.

Actually, I kinda guessed who it was at the 'devonette' bit, since-- well, it doesn't even need mentioning that it was your username.
As for Borneo... well, um, I have run-ins with mad creatures too! Like the mental robin who chucks himself at my window each afternoon, and little minnows in the creek getting gobbled by the neighborhood heron! If you've got a photo of a wild hog, a gorgeous bird and an orangutan, to name a few, it qualifies as an adventure in this suburban gal's eyes. *sigh* The countryside is so safe these days...
