# About me

I write poetry and stories. I've written an unpublished book that is surreal in nature and very eccentric, perhaps you could say avant-garde. I also play the piano. I mostly improvise music in my own classical style, and it is usually very sad. My work is very dark.

I'd like to mention the great horror author H. P. Lovecraft. His writing is that of true genius, and is extremely original. His writing can be fearsome yet so elegant. Alternating between bright, colorful, surreal majesties and the darkest abysses of madness, he has a style, artistry, and consummate mastery of the English language that reaches the peaks of human language. His writing can be so rich and vibrant, with overwhelming color and imagery like powerful perfume. Yet, it can also be so dark, fearsome, and intimidating, wholly devoid of campy qualities and it has much power and plausibility. I've never read anything like it. I haven't explored much into other authors of weird fiction, but I doubt many of them can bring true, harrowing terror to life the way Lovecraft does. His stories are amazingly detailed and intensely intelligent, I just can't get over the power and gravity of his works. I suspect most people wouldn't be able to appreciate the depth and elegance of his work, but if you are open-minded and willing to explore difficult yet rewarding writing, I strongly recommend Lovecraft.

I'm not an avid reader, but I have read all the way through the unabridged The Count of Monte Cristo, which was over 1400 pages. I find reading to be somewhat like a chore, requiring a lot of concentration, and I have difficulty concentrating.

"13 September 1922

I know these painless periods won't last long. The doctor buoys me with hope, but I've grown weary of his bedside cheer. How much professional satisfaction can he take in prolonging my life by a number of ticks of the clock? As the ink dries on the death certificate he'll have a cigar and pat himself on the back for giving me a few superfluous pain-wracked seconds. I wonder how he'll feel when he's the one shivering on the examination slab? No matter how you look at it, doctor, the end - for all of us - draws near." - Jeremiah Covenant

I think you will find that I am quite deviant.

"Only robust old Captain Whipple was heard by alert listeners to mutter once in a while to himself, 'Pox on that -, but he had no business to laugh while he screamed. 'Twas as though the damned - had summat up his sleeve. For half a crown I'd burn his - house.'"
