I'm curious as to what would occur if someone instead of being able to use a persona was capable of absorbing shadows and stealing the core masks they have and control them in the process

Before choosing a persona, I suggest creating a human character and finding the best and worst aspects of that person. Usually, it's those aspects that determine the best persona for that person.
EX. a once-star athlete now facing the worst of troubles would probably fit with a persona of the Tower Arcana, since the Tower associates with disaster, chaos, and impending doom.

It depends if there are any aspects in your human character that can be reflected in YOUR design and concept of Spartacus, and if those aspects reflect highly on the real interpretation of the Chariot Arcana. If there are any, it's possible.
