# About me
I have been living on the beautiful island of Guernsey now for nearly 10 years, and after many years away from photography I decided last year that I should pull my finger out and learn all about Digital Photography. What an enjoyable journey it has been.
I decided early on that I was going to focus on the art of Light Painting, and so this is what I have spent most of my time doing, and I truly love it.
Many more images to follow, as I have only just joined this magnificent website.
Current Residence: Guernsey

I decided yesterday to keep track of all the people from other countries that I meet. Then I decided to use a world map and put everyone I knew on it. By "knew," I mean either I watch you, you watch me, I fave you, or you fave me. You have been chosen. Check it out at [link]

Welcome to DA! Your photography is very unique and surreal, but the watermarks kind of injure it.

Hi there. Yes, I agree it detracts somewhat, but I am not 100% familiar with how this site works yet, and felt that the safest option. Any tips will be very welcome.

might I suggest making a small signature water mark in the corner of the photos instead of one overlaying the whole thing. Then you get the watermark (which I never use) and it doesn't override the image.
For example [link] note the signature at the bottom right corner.

Your work is fantastic. I'd like to learn a thing or two about light painting, as I already have a love for long exposures and using fire as the only source of light in many of my photos. Adding the effect of LEDs would make my own works, most likely, much more interesting. If you have any important tips and are willing to share, it would be greatly appreciated!

OrbMeUp In reply to saintvalentino [2011-01-21 23:33:23 +0000 UTC]
Hi there.
Sure! Lets see...
Well the best tip is to just grab some different light sources, set your camera to the bulb setting once you have got it properly focused, trigger the shot and just get experimenting.
I played around for months before I started to develop a style I was happy with, and took so many shots that that I will just never use on my way to gaining more accuracy! Every so often you will just nail a shot the way you want it...and then it will start happening more frequently as you gain more control over your exposures and the actual light painting.
Best of luck, and let me know when you have some results that you want to show off

Wonderful. Thanks for sharing, as most people treasure their tips and hoard them like dragons.
In any case, I most certainly will.

Absolute pleasure.
It is so important to simply experiment as much as you can, as this will help you eventually discover your own style of light painting. Best of luck.
