Really amazing paintings! I've just recognized, that I already faved some of your paintings years ago but haven't been watching you - I've changed that now, because your art is extremely inspiring!
Now my own imaginations seems so small...

I don't even know where to start about your art, it is so beautiful and so real, most thing I see like this are more expressive but your paintings seem to actually create a an actual space the viewer can warp themselves into, it's all so beautifully rendered. Its so inspiring.
it kinda reminds me of a cross between Jeff Soto, Mars-1, and Yoko d'holbachie.

Haha, nice, thank you.
Well, Mars is a good, longtime friend and collaborator so that make sense. And the other two, well that's cool too. Really love Yoko's work!
Thanks for takin' the time to write.

I love what you do. It's elusive, radical, and surprising. What's not surprising is that you too like Gibran. We should be friends. Or at the very least bitter recurring nemeses.

Thanks! Yeah Gibran pretty much nails it.
No, friends are better. Enough war in this dimention....

I'm talking more along the lines of you finally defeating the Elite 4 and me showing up to ruin it for you kinda rivals XD. Anyway...I guess one thing I'd like to know about is your creative process, how does it work?

NomeEdonna In reply to Aeloth [2012-12-08 03:14:38 +0000 UTC]
My creative process? Hmmm, well i couldn't really put it all into words.
I'm always taking in everything, observing everything. Sometimes i'll just think about stuff; life, art, sex, war, the ocean, whatever and get some build up of feelings and emotions over a week or two - then I just paint. I usually 'feel' some sort of composition or maybe where to start on the panel/canvas and just make a mark and go from there... The paintings usually evolve as I work. I rarely make sketches before hand, just get to painting. If I happen to come up with a very specific idea, i may make some drawings to try and figure it out a bit first, but i don't like wasting too much time/energy into that. I like to just put it all into the painting, otherwise it's more like illustration and well, i'm not really an illustrator. Intuition and instinct guide my brush more often than not...
Hope that answers your question a little...

Well, I didn't really expect you to put it ALL into words.
I get what you're saying, though. it makes sense. my process is similar. I pretty much work as an entirely intuitive process, though. i don't usually even have a clue what I'm doing at the time. Mostly i just start with a canvas, and whatever other random objects i can find, potpourri, wax, scrap metal, broken glass, whatever i can get my hands on. Then i just work up a sweat making up this big crazy mess of things. It's usually not until days or weeks after the actual work is done that I start to see intricate meanings in everything, and I never stop being amazed at how it all just kinda...works out.
In a way, I end up having to interpret my own work just like anyone else would. They're mysterious, even to me.
