Hope you had a happy new yearΒ Β
I know a little late. Believe it or not after the delay last year due to snow, the local International community decided "what the hay' and is going to begin the year of the metal rat celebrations on Feb 8th ( rove.me/to/seattle/chinese-newβ¦Β )Β
Or as my fairies haveΒ jokingly called it the big Year of Iron Mouse, after watching too much Sailor Moon.

It's heart-warming when trying to get back on track and see your messages around my page.
I'm so sorry for the long absence and not giving any response in such a long time. I wish I could've seen these comments sooner. Please know that I treasure your caring words very much. I hope you and the fairies are all doing well. Wish you have a happy 2020 too~
This year's Lunar New Year in Vietnam was not perfect since the Coronavirus outbreak in China is affecting us a little bit. According to the official news, everything's still in control. My family and I are also safe and sound. However, the Lantern Festival held on lunar Jan 15th annually (which is Feb 8th this year ) was canceled. This festival is a festival of dragon dance at my place because there will be a big parade of dragon dancers, martial artists, and circus performers moving through the town from morning till evening. The noisy and crowded roads every year are always my nightmares. But when it got canceled, everything was too silent. I feel like the holiday didn't end correctly.
By the way, I never thought that your fairies and "watching Sailor Moon" would be relating, but now I know it and it sounds really... logical?

Nice to see that you're back online.Β
That explains why the holiday was so strange this year. We had celebrations on January 25th, February 1st and February 8th depending on where you wanted to go. Our local Chinatown decided to do both the 25th and 8th. Complete with pouring rain. Some years you just can't win. Last year it was snow.
About that outbreak.... the first US case was just across town in my hometown. Lucky me....Β (two weeks in quarantine later, he's fully recovered)
When I was gone at work, one of the fairies favorite pass times was watching assorted cartoons and anime of the giant (especially to them) TV / fly in theater. Which does go a long way towards explaining all the popcorn I occasionally need to vaccume up from the rug.

I remember the snow you told me last year It must be a headache each year for the people at Chinatown to ensure an outside event will run smoothly and in time under the winter's weather. By the way, I agree that we can't have a perfect holiday every year. After all, the feeling of celebrating is still the most important. Well, many of us here were in a celebrating mode through the entire first three days of the lunar new year before realizing there's a disease outbreak in the region. We were like... unknowingly ignoring all the news media that were desperately trying to inform us about the situation those days... =v="
I'm glad to know that the man was fully recovered. The fact that his case was so close to your place gives chills down my spine. I thought America was too far from here to be affected by it but... ; v ; Just be careful and make sure to take care of yourself. Although I guess the fairies have already finished stocking up their fairy dust and nurse uniforms for any circumstance...
P/s: The theater staff could have wondered about where all those disappeared popcorn went, too XD And I need to praise their marvelous idea of passing time in a theater. Could only be possible (or economical) when you are a fairy, though...

It was quite a shock / surprise to find out the virus had reached Everett. Fortunately it's proven an isolated case and the exception. Although the fairy nurses were all set to try out their latest serums and lots of needles on me.
Ironically we usually get a window of dry weather about the time of the New Year celebration. These past few years have proven an exception. Not sure how the event went from rain/shine to maybe if the weather's nice.Β
I'm just back from the Great White North (Canada) and the convention there. Lots more pictures going up. My frost fairies where disappointed that the area didn't live up to it's name. But the city is nearly surrounded by mountains that were all dusted white on the top.Β
Considering they had this 200oz supersized popcorn buckedΒ www.rcm-media.com/wp-content/uβ¦Β waiting and filled for the fairies when we say the last Star Wars movie, I think the theater staff was expecting them. But I think you're right. It does help being able to sneak into movies while invisible. They're all busy watching the new Sonic movie while I'm getting the yard ready for spring with some last minute pruning before the growing season starts. It won't be too much longer until it is Flower Season in the gardens again.

By how I read it, the fairy nurses were eager to try out their serums and needles on you whenever they get a chance XD
I looked it up a bit about that nickname of Canada then Google Images showed some beautiful photos, but with your frost fairies being disappointed, maybe the scenery doesn't look so intriguing in the lower region, or in the city. However, I will still vote for the snowy mountains~
By the way, I can't wait to see how your garden looks like this year when it's blooming!

It's still pretty.Β flic.kr/p/2ivogPR But they were hoping for a bit more of a white out.
And you know my fairy nurses far too well.Β
Things are getting ready to start blooming if we keep getting reasonably warm days and sun. One of the early blooming rhododendrons are showing signs that they are ready to blossom as early as next week. Hopefully we won't get another frost before then. Hopefully I'll be able to get up to the tulip fields and have a sunny day. They had a good looking crop of February snow geese when I was driving by last week. They tend to winter in the fields.Β

You know that could explain that odd dusting of snow for a few hours this morning before it vanished. The local weather forecaster claims it was just a convergence zone fluke.Β While the frost fairies were disappointed that this trip to Canada didn't live up to its reputation, they at least liked that the city is surrounded by snow capped mountains. It also helped that when the local rains started again - like they ever end - our local mountains were again measuring snowfall in feet (1/3 - 1/2 meter) per day. Vancouver really is a lovely area. So hopefully I will get an excuse to visit there a bit more often this year.Β
We often get one more big frost event right about now. So if we can escape that without anything too drastic, it should be a big, early year for flowers. Unlike last year were nothing seemed to bloom until late April.
