Thank you very much for the of my From the Shore - Booster Lake painting. That is a very favourite place of mine to visit and that particular painting was important because I had stopped painting in the middle of it, and finally one Sunday morning I pulled it out, and have been painting ever since.

I just love your gouache paintings. I cannot seem to get the right consistency with those paints when I have attempted to use them. How much paint vs water do you use?

That's a difficult question to answer. I use quite a bit of water, but am not sure of any exact ratio, plus the amount of water I use changed depending on which brand of gouache I use.
Reeves brand: I paint with this very watered down to the point where they paints look and behave like watercolor. I like to use these for backgrounds
Holbein Acryla: These have a slightly watery consistency already, so I generally only have a wet paintbrush and use them straight out of the tube (or very slightly watered down). I often have trouble getting the right consistency with these paints as well, but they do have great colors I haven't found with some of the other brands, so I do still use them occasionally.
M Graham, Winsor &Newton, and Talens: These are my 3 favorites to work with because they seem a lot more flexible to me. I usually water them down slightly so they have a consistency just a touch thicker than olive oil.

Thank you very much. That gives me a much better idea. I have been playing with reeves, but it sounds like to achieve that consistency I am looking for (as often demonstrated by Syd Mead) I will likely need to get some W & N paints.
I appreciate the feedback. ^_^
