You should try adding some tone to them. Look at other photo's to try to get some ideas on how to shade.
Or get an book on manga. I guess you're afraid of adding tone incase you ruin the pictures right?

Yes, exactly. It would help a lot if I had a printer to scan them and work on the shades and colors on the copy.
But little by little I have been shading this year. At the moment I'm submitting my oldish drawings.
I just saw your work and I gotta say that I am speechless. Your art is amazing! Looks so realistic and you're awesome at shading!

Yes i was going to say that, copying to the computer to work on it that way.
Is there no where you can go to use a scanner? Like a library,or if your at school or college? you could then save it in an email then download it when you get home.?
Yeah you just have to keep practicing and making mistakes until you figure out what works for you.

Ahh thanks, that's very kind And like i wrote above, that's what i did to find out of to get better shading, i tried charcoal,carbon,different blenders,different pencils. etc.

I could try at a public library, I think they might have one.
At the moment I'm not in school. Starting January I'll be going to college. ^^ At the moment I'm just working to save up a little.
Yeah, shading has never been my thing but I do want to improve even if it's just a little bit.

Yeah give that i try.
I see, well at least you will have more time to practise until then.
I think it can be a little harder with manga and stuff like that to find the right shading.
But if look at some photo's of people and see where the light source is and how it affects the picture and where the blacks are and light parts are then you will have a place to start.Then it's just about getting smooth transitions from the values.Sound's boring right? haha Good luck and keep it up.

Yes there is,but ive ended up now just using some wooden pencils and mechanical ones and tissues for blending.

Hahah, I'm not up for drawing mangas, it does look difficult, but looking at them does help a lot. I'm no good at drawing something real either. Drawing people seems really hard. Actually it doesn't sound boring at all, but it does sound a bit complicating. =3
I'll try buying those materials to try them out.

Drawing something real i guess can take longer to get right.
It's mostly learning how to see how light works and how it affects things.

It does take longer than drawing anime... I think.
My little sister has drawn a few art of people. She is amazing.
I try not to compare myself with her. ^^'

Oh yeah it can really be long depending on the size.
Im just starting a new and ive decided to draw it smaller and see how it comes out.
My last two were big and it took 6 months to finish both together.
That's just way too long, im not getting enough done that way,and i noticed on some really good artists profiles on here that they put A3 as the drawing size, but when i look at their WIPS,sometimes they lay their pencil down on the drawing which showed me the face of the person in the drawing is like 7-8 inches, where ive been drawing 14-16 inches which answered my question of why are people getting drawings done so fast.Because i was drawing a lot bigger than them.which then also makes it hard to get a photograph of it.

Maybe you should get inspiration from your sisters work. focus on being as good as your sister.
