# About me

Fàilte!
I am Murchadh the Younger, son of Raghnall the Younger, son of Murchadh the Elder, son of Raghnall the Elder, son of Niall, son of Tormod, son of Ùisdean.

These are Scottish Gaelic names. For those unfamiliar with Gaelic, their Anglicized forms are:
Murchadh = Murdock
Raghnall = Ronald
Niall = Neil
Tormod = Norman
Ùisdean = Hugh

Murdock is in fact not my real first name. But it would have been if my father (who was never in my life) had stuck to the Scottish/Irish tradition of naming the first born son after their paternal Grandfather (Murdock the Elder, in this case). Save for my name not actually being Murdock, the rest of the names are in fact the first names of (in order) my father, paternal grandfather, great-grandfather, 2nd great-grandfather, 3rd great-grandfather, and 4th great-grandfather.

I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. My ancestors came from Dumfries, Scotland, in the early 19th century, on a boat (starting with Norman/"Tormod"). Norman's father, Hugh (Ùisdean) stayed behind with his wife, Sarah, in Scotland. Norman and his family settled in Scotland. They settled in River Inhabitants, Richmond County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Norman may or may not have already met his wife, Christie, in Scotland, before travelling to Nova Scotia. From here is where my family legacy began. My paternal ancestors were of the proud Scottish Clan "Ferguson". But the numerous marriages of the countless individuals on my family tree, through either clan relation, or sept relation, connects me to no less than 22 different Scottish clans (possibly more I haven't discovered yet):

Buchanan
Cameron
Campbell
Colquhoun
Ferguson
Graham
Livingstone
MacArthur
MacBeth
MacDonald of Clanranald
MacFarlane
MacFie
MacKenzie
MacKinlay
MacLean
MacLeay
MacMillan
MacNaughton
MacPherson
Skene
Stewart of Appin
Wood

Now a bit about the "artistic me":
I had been a fan artist and fan fiction writer for a very long period of time, dabbling in a number of different franchises in the past (which I prefer to keep the names of buried there, in the past).

Eventually, I began working my way into original art, as well as writing original fiction. I still do this, but on a separate account, which I'd like to keep undisclosed for my own personal reasons. As I first began venturing into completely original work, I very quickly learned who was "watching" me because they "admired me as an artist in general", and who was watching me just to get their daily fix of fan-art and fan-fiction.

I have nothing against fan-art and fan-fiction. But I'm still very wary of those who would ravenously treat it like an addictive drug; couple/pairing wars, canon/non-canon arguments, and the general sense of "MORE MORE MORE" are not what I seek from watchers when I work in the area of fan-art and fan-fiction.

Leading up to the creation of this account, I had the urge to work on fan-art again. But I didn't want to go back to the old franchises I'd once worked in. So I got to thinking to myself; how can I go back into fan-art and fan-fiction, and not go back to the old franchises I once worked with, and still work with something I enjoy, and that I'm familiar with?

Then it hit me:
I'm of a proud Scottish/Irish heritage; almost my entire family tree is Scottish and Irish, and, as mentioned, connects me to at least 22 different Scottish Clans! So... What was a major hit Disney film in 2012 that has a Scottish theme that I absolutely ADORED?...
BRAVE!!!
Of course! I can do Brave fanart!
Or at least, I can start trying.
The Brave franchise is still very new and young, but still fairly popular. That said, I've never tried my hand at drawing any fan-art, or writing any fan-fiction, based on this franchise. And I certainly don't profess myself to be an "exceptionally talented" writer or drawing artist.
But one may always make the attempt, yes?
So that's what I shall do!

Keep your eyes open, and your ear to the ground!

Slàinte mhòr!
~Murchadh
