I don't know. I just call it "moneydrawing". It seems like it used to be popular for handbills and stuff during the Victorian era too. Maybe "Victorian bric-a-brac"?

I think he uses some kind of flame tool/hot metal to carve out wood, or at least refers to it in his DD piece.

I'm guessing the piece is drawn out on a surface or transferred from an original, then burned in with a wood burning tool. You can get them at most craft stores. The fun part is finding a good one.
