# About me
Hi.My name is Gunvor, and I love to draw. Unfortunately, I don't always have a lot of free time or, let's face it, energy, so my uploading is somewhat erratic.
I'm a huge Tolkien fan, as well as anything Harry Potter-related, and lately I've discovered Star Wars, although I don't know if I'll draw anything from that 'verse.
I mostly work with pencils and watercolour, but I'm starting to get better at using my tablet, too.
I live in Aarhus, Denmark, and you'll find some inspiration from Norse Mythology in my art. Gotta love those myths and stories.

To be honest I thought I would be quicker, but it turns out I really have to be in the right mood to have the inspiration to do them. Maybe it's the same for you

Well, so far it's really just been a problem of work, work and more work. I'm visiting a family member in hospital this weekend, but I should (finally) have some time for drawing monday and tuesday.

Well.
My brother's girlfriend recently visited her parents who live near us. She's Lithuanian and had gone to the country for a visit a while back and she brought us the BEST dark chocolate I have ever tasted. It was all bubbly on the inside and...ugh *_* Beautiful.

Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2012-10-28 20:01:30 +0000 UTC]
Ooh. Sounds delicious.
My dad once had these two Lithuanian guys over - they worked in forestry like my dad, and they were doing some exchange thing. Those guys had the most splendiferous names: Richadas and Gideminas. They were very tall and imposing, but had lovely senses of humour, from what I recall.

DoctorGeet In reply to Maitia [2012-11-16 17:22:02 +0000 UTC]
It was, senpai. It was.
Them be awesome names, and awesome guys too from what I've heard. My brother's girlfriend is called Saulene. It's pronounced Solania, but everyone just pronounces it Celine, like the French name, because we're Scottish and foreign words confuse us.
π: 0 β©: 1
Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2012-11-17 03:03:12 +0000 UTC]
Good. I feel like petting you on the head in a wise and Yoda-like manner when you call me senpai, even though I don't really know what it means.
An interesting name it is, yes, hmmm.
Yeah, I thought so too. Well, to be honest, there are some pretty strange names in the UK. Unfortunately, I don't have dirt on Scotland, but whilst in Pallaskenry near Limerick, I met people called Eoghain (Owen), Niamph (Nee-off) and Grainne (Groh-nyuh). So...
π: 0 β©: 1
DoctorGeet In reply to Maitia [2012-11-17 21:03:38 +0000 UTC]
Senpai means boss, really. In Japan, they use it for anyone of a higher status than you, like your boss or elder or teacher, I think. They use it on the end sometimes, so I could call you Maitia-senpai!
Interesting, it is!
Oh you have no idea. There's Leodhas (Loish), Breagh (Bree-ah), Siobhan (Shivon), Odhran (Oran), I could go on. They're all Gaelic names, which is quite odd because Limerick's in England, but it is NEAR Scotland. Lovely language that is, especially when sung. It actually originates in the Highlands I think, so it's quite surprising to find those names down South.
π: 0 β©: 1
Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2012-11-19 21:20:54 +0000 UTC]
My brain automatically constructed the phrase "Like a senpai". I think I need help.
But couldn't you just say Maitia-san? Don't you use -san for someone older or just above you in the social hierarchy?
Yeah. They're pretty weird. I never know how to pronounce that actress from Atonement's name. Saoirse Ronan. Is it Seer-shee?
Uhm. Unless there's more than one Limerick, I'm pretty sure it's actually in Ireland.
And Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic is closely related, isn't it? I think we had something about that in Linguistics class.

SAIJDAOKL;SKFAIUIAKS,DLADS NO YOU DON'T NEED HELP. YOU NEED A MEDAL.
Oh yes, that would work too. Senpai just sounds fun.
Oh! Yes, my bad. There's a Limerick in England too. Dammit Google Maps, you gave me the wrong place!
Yes they are, because the original Celts come from Ireland or some shit. Either way, Gaelic names are cool.
π: 0 β©: 1
Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2012-11-22 01:43:51 +0000 UTC]
I graciously accept.
No, you know what senpai sounds like? It sounds like "send pie", which is something I can get behind.
They're all over the place! Save us from the Limericks!
Yup, that's what my professor said, too. Minus the "some shit" part, though. He was more of and "oh, those phonemes and allophones, aren't they just hilarious." He's a big teddy bear.

He is! I miss his lectures. He has a very pleasant voice, too, and someone once told him in the anonymous evaluation. He's been quoting it ever since. It was something about his "soothing, honey voice" or something like that. He's endearingly proud of it.
In general, the teachers in the English department are wonderful. Our drama and poetry teacher was cute like a basket of puppies, and our translation teacher had us in stiches with his funny stories and commentaries. He coined the phrase "Porn English", for instance.

It doesn't? QI has deceived me! I'm appalled!
They ARE!
Well, alright, but you have to come here then, because I'm not letting you abscond with them.
I was recently at the Christmas party for the English department at uni and it was the most hilarious, wonderful thing. I'd forgotten how SASSY some of these teachers are, but oh my, was I reminded. I was laughing so much I started wheezing.

Ehehe. I feel strangely vindicated.
Hm? I dunno. I just remember Jo Brand talking about making ginger beer (not ginger ale) and having it basically take over the kitchen.
That is a nice plan. I like that plan. COME HERE AND I SHALL PLAY YOU THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE!
Sassy teachers are VERY sassy.
Fun fact: a friend of mine has a friend who's from the UK, but lives here now. His surname is Treacher and he's a teacher! It takes every bit of control not to call him Teacher.

DoctorGeet In reply to Maitia [2013-02-06 19:24:33 +0000 UTC]
What, my good Maitia, does vindicated mean?
For I am an uneducated swine who knows less of her own language than a foreigner does
Whoa, what were we talking about here? Jo Brand is awesome though. So is ginger beer.
YES LETS GO!! *flies over to Denmark*
Sassity sass sass, sass sass!
Oh my GOSH! XD That's a very appropriate name for a teacher. Unfortunate name time: I once knew a girl called Roisin Gunn. Roisin is pronounced Rosheen, and it was commonly misheard as Machine....Machine Gunn.
Ouch.

Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2013-02-07 23:28:16 +0000 UTC]
(I feel some sort of medal is in order for the foreigner)
Vindicate:
tr.v. vinΒ·diΒ·catΒ·ed, vinΒ·diΒ·catΒ·ing, vinΒ·diΒ·cates
1. To clear of accusation, blame, suspicion, or doubt with supporting arguments or proof: "Our society permits people to sue for libel so that they may vindicate their reputations" (Irving R. Kaufman).
2. To provide justification or support for: vindicate one's claim.
3. To justify or prove the worth of, especially in light of later developments.
4. To defend, maintain, or insist on the recognition of (one's rights, for example).
5. To exact revenge for; avenge.
So, what I meant to say was that I felt justified in making my bad joke, because you found it funny anyway.
We were debating whether or not ginger beer does in fact grow like a shaken, just opened soda. Jo Brand does sort of trump the point, though.
YESSSS!! WELCOME! WE HAVE BEER, MERMAIDS AND JANTELOVEN. HELP YOURSELF!
Ooh, that IS an unfortunate name. I still like to use a nickname around English speakers, because Gunvor inevitably sounds like Gun War, in an English accent.
(I'm going to London in the summer, with my two cousins, my mum and my aunt, and my cousins and aunt have easily translatable names: Birgitte = Bridget, Karin = Karen and Elly. And then there's mum and me: Bodil and Gunvor. Sigh.)

(*gives the "Well Done You're Better At English Than Native Speakers Of English" medal to Maitia* YOU DESERVE IT)
Ahhh everything is clear now. And I learned a new word today :3
Ahhhh yes, I remember now! Either way, it's delicious right?
SOUNDS GOOD TO ME!!! (whats Janteloven though?)
Gunvor? That's just a letter switch from Guv'nor! What are you talking about?! That might just be the best name ever!
(Oh darn, I see the problem there. Oh well. Still. GUV'NOR!)
π: 0 β©: 1
Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2013-02-22 16:12:13 +0000 UTC]
Yay! I can add that to my Spanish one (the "Well done, you've corrected a native Spanish speaker, and their older brother teased them about it" medal).
Yes, that's the spirit.
Well, I'm not actually sure I've ever had ginger beer. I've had ginger ale, but I don't think it's the same. Ginger ale, though, is lovely. Especially when you're sick.
Janteloven, or the law of Jante, is this depressing thing: [link]
It's mostly a concept, or an idea, but I think it did kind of define the smaller-town communities in the past.
Hmm.. I should just ask people to call me Guv'nor. It'd give it a little bit or an Eliza Doolittle feel. Sort of sassy street-urchin-chic. Heh. I'm okay with people calling me Ginny, though, or Gwen. It's from the same root, anyway.
π: 0 β©: 1
DoctorGeet In reply to Maitia [2013-03-15 22:21:40 +0000 UTC]
Wow, you're mucho talented at languages ain'tcha!
Hmmm I think it is different. I think ginger beer is sweeter or something, but it's beautiful anyway.
Wow that's pretty....shit man. Interesting, but pretty shit.
Eliza Doolittle is freakin' awesome! Yes, you shall be Guv'nor from now on. Or Gwen or Ginny, but mostly Guv'nor. Especially so I can do this. *tips my hat at you* Good evening, guv'nor!
π: 0 β©: 1
Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2013-03-16 19:31:28 +0000 UTC]
I dunno. Those are the two languages I'm studying at uni, so I'd be in trouble if I couldn't speak them. Also, the Spanish girl I corrected was four or five at the time, so it's not like it's that impressive.
I do love languages, though. Language in general, actually.
Yeah, I thought it might not be the same thing. Ah well.
Yeah, it is. I'm glad to be living in an age where Janteloven is mostly a thing of the past.
Aaaaaaugh! I just finished watching A Very Potter Senior Year and all this guv'nor business is giving me Seamus Finnigan feels! My fragile mental state can't handle all this.

I love languages too! I'm learning German in school and taking French again next year. And Scots Gaelic, I think. Just for shits and giggles.
Ah well. ginger is always good. I love giner cake. Ahhh <3
Yeah. Can't believe people actually thought like that.
AUUUGHHH OH MY GOSH!! How amazing is it?! Oh my god, might just start calling you Seamus now

Heh. Fanks.
I took German too, but it's compulsory here because our only land border is with Germany, and we get a lot of German tourists.
I took French, too, but only for a year, sadly. I liked it.
Scots Gaelic because you CAN!
Ooh, and ginger snaps! Mmmmmm.....
Well, according to my friend Jeppe, Mors (the island with the town of NykΓΈbing, upon which the fictitious Jante was based) is still a little depressing like that. My mum's from NykΓΈbing, and she liked it, but maybe it's also that it's a bit isolated. I think that would drive my friend up the wall.
SO AMAZING!!
AND MOANING MYRTLE!!! I WAS ABOUT READY TO PEE MY PANTS, MYRTLE WAS SO FUNNY!! Just the thought brings tears to my eyes!
SSSSSSSSSNAKE.......I'M A SSSSNAKE......WHERE'D MY ARMS GO? JUST KIDDING, I'M A SSSSNAKE....

Oh so it is. The only compulsory language here is French, but you can drop it in 5th year. I had to, because I had to take Art instead, but doing it next year.
Bad news, can't do Scots Gaelic No courses for it.
No courses for Scots Gaelic....In Scotland.
YEAH THAT MAKES SENSE.
Oh heck yes! Gingerbread, can't forget
Hmmmm interesting. It sure would drive me up the wall. Sounds depressing :/
No, not just amazing. SUPERMEGAFOXYAWESOMEHOT!
Omfg!!!
I'M A SSSSNAAAAKE....YOU COULD PROBABLY MAKE THOUSANDS OF TINY PURSES OUT OF MEEE....

Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2013-04-02 20:51:46 +0000 UTC]
Aw, yeah, that's what annoyed me when I went to Gymnasium (high school? You go when you're 16-19, and then you can go on to university). I would have loved to be able to take French as well as Spanish, German and English, but that wasn't an option. Instead I was saddled with PE, Natural Sciences and Geography, which is an important subject, but was taught by the laziest teacher ever (he would set us reading for homework, hand out questions and then disappear to the teacher's lounge, leaving us to fill in the stupid questionnaires in the cafeteria), so we never learned anything. Seriously, my friend and I made up a song about a special kind of lava because we were so bored.
You can't do Scots Gaelic? That's rubbish! Rubbish, I say!
Mmmmhhh. Gingerbread.... My friend Anja and I have a proud tradition of making gingerbread houses - and on one occasion gingerbread St Peter's Chapels - for Christmas. 'Tis lovely.
I rather like Mors, but it probably helps that I've never lived there. I've just visited my Gran in NykΓΈbing.
Oh yeah, the Snickers! Also, the dance-off! And Bellatrix' ridiculously over the top crooning when Tom Riddle went home. I thought I was going to pee my pants!

DoctorGeet In reply to Maitia [2013-04-09 20:43:05 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. What annoys me is that the columns are laid out for the intelligent subjects and not the creative ones. For example, this year Chemistry, English, Maths, Physics and Biology were in seperate columns, but all the art-y subjects were clumped together. SCHOOL STAHP -_-
Exactly! Well, I'm unsure if I even want to go back. If I get all my grades this year I can get into university, so what's the point? However if I don't, resits for me!
Awesome. You made St Peter's Chapel out of gingerbread? Skill, I say. Skill.
Yeah, sometimes you tire of places when you live there. I always wonder why people visit the North of Scotland because there's absolutely nothing to do, but then I realized; it's because they don't have to live there. They just come, have a peaceful (albeit rainy) break, and go back to busy lives.
THE DANCE-OFF!! Tap dancing is my favourite style of dancing, so naturally I had a heart-attack when Joe Walker started doing it!

Maitia In reply to DoctorGeet [2013-04-17 20:10:17 +0000 UTC]
Hmm. That's stupid. For my second year (Gymnasium's three years), I chose art as an elective, because I wanted to continue with German, Spanish and English as my third-year electives, but the art elective was a level B, which meant that in the third year, when we had our mandatory art class, I was ridiculously ahead of everybody, because that was a level C class. Such a stupid system.
Hmm.. I hope it goes well for you, so you don't need resits.
It was pretty hard to make the domes, because how to you make domes out of cookie dough? We did it, though, and it was very pretty, though I say so myself.
Well, I've always loved rocky terrain with hills and mountains, and we just don't have that in Denmark at all. It's so flat. So the Scottish countryside holds some allure.
And the leggings were so tight. And we saw his glorious muscles again. Mmmmh...

That is a feat and a half, man. I am impressed. How did you bring yourself to eat it? If I made something that marvellous I wouldn't wanna wreck it!
Ohh i see. Well the countryside is pretty, to be fair
