Lol..... wow. That's a long story. There's a lot of good moments in the NaLu shipping. I have to say my favorite moments were their first encounter, but most definitely their historial connection. Which tops off NaLi to say the least (no offense NaLi shippers). The first thing we know is that Natsu and his parents were incinerated by a Dragon who destroyed his entire hometown, leaving Zeref the only survivor. Zeref does everything in his power to revive Natsu, cursing and corrupting himself at the process, Zeref is ironically in contact with Igneel who plays a part in Natsu's life and Anna Heartfilia.

Anna is the ancestor of the Heartfilia family. She was the teacher of the first generation of Dragon Slayers prior to traveling them to the future since they were destined to defeat Acnologia. Her descendant, Layla Heartfilia (mother of Lucy) would be the one to open this Eclipse Gate to release the Dragon Slayers from their time traveling slumber prior to her demise.

It's a interesting story and symbolism because it basically explains that not only the Dragneels and Heartfilias are drawn to each other, but they're also one of the reasons to Fairy Tail's rising.
