Let's just imagine an arrow hitting through your knee. Between the bones. Imagine... not the pain. But if those northern guys had any idea how to remove it. Emphasizing if it did not hit the bone! The question is how it will going to heal? No way. You have probably lost your leg. Even if magic hels you after this experience you don't want to join the city guard nor any guilds and forget adventuring for good... except the bards.
