I have been more active behind-the-scenes. Came to the conclusion that I was wasting my time trying to help some people on this website understand what they're doing is wrong. Even if they "get it" they generally go on doing it because they figure is a big enough website they'll never get caught. They may get by a few weeks, but they eventually get shut down.

Considering you have submitted the images to the "Artistic Nude" category I'll first address that aspect. First off, there is nothing "artistic" about the images. They are poorly shot, obviously not thought out, and appear to be purely exhibitionist in nature. If you stand them side-by-side with other images in that gallery (or for that matter, images you have added to your favorites) you can clearly see they do not belong in that gallery. They warrant being removed on that basis alone, or at the very least being re-assigned to the "Scraps" category.

Now, to address content. Erections are not allowed on . Regardless of the artistic merit of such an image, they are not allowed. Such images are in violation of established policy and can be removed on that basis.

Tips... if you're serious about submitting artistic nude images (and not just trying to be an exhibitionist) than approach it seriously. Look at the work of people you admire on or elsewhere and work towards making your own images of such a quality. An out-of-focus, overlit image looking down your pants at your erect penis has little or no artistic merit, and certainly doesn't belong on .

okay, thank you. I am serious on trying to submit artistic shots, but I'm new to photography. In the next few shots I decide to put up, I'll try to take your tips into consideration. It would help if i had a better camera to take pictures with, but I don't have that type of money. However, I will try and use better poses, and no longer use an erect penis, although I believe they look better than a flaccid one.

If you're talking about a straight-up freehand drawing, then I would say no. However, if you're taking a photo and manipulating it in a program like Photoshop to make it look like a drawing, then that is definitely using someone else's work without permission. And there are people here on that do precisely that.

The is the prevalent view. My friend disagrees and thinks any change to a pic is artistic, like warhol's pics. However, photographers just grab or copy images, whereas illustrators create images, hehe.

Two areas:
- Mis-categorized images (miscats)
- Policy violations

What tends to draw the most ire is that of people who have posted images in violation of 's copyright policy. is not a photo-sharing website - it's only for posting original works.

you're absolutely right on the copyright violation part, but I don't really understand the problem with posting photos that aren't very artistic. DA does have categories for snapshots and spontaneous portraits.
I guess it is a problem if that is ONLY what people post, but I hope you don't nag people who do 'share photos'

No, not at all. When I draw attention to photo-sharing it is strictly in the sense of posting imagery that belongs to someone else. Original works are always welcome on .

Thanks so much. It's bad enough when people see as a photo-sharing website. What's much worse is someone that posts images by other deviants and then attempts to pass it off as their own. Unfortunately, they often try to make me out as the bad guy because I (and most people on ) have an expectation that art theft and/or copyright infringement won't be tolerated. I always appreciate the positive vibes from people such as yourself!

Understood - just be aware that if the image doesn't conform to 's definition of what belongs in the "Artistic Nude" gallery your work will either be moved to another gallery or removed completely. Better you put it somewhere you deem appropriate than have an admin stick it where they want.

Go the page with your deviation [link] and click on "Edit deviation." When the new page comes up where it says "Category" hit the button that reads "Choose..." Then change the category, hit "OK" and then go to the bottom of the page and hit the button that reads "Save changes." Then you're good to go.

I have no problem with people showing mature photos of themselves. What has a problem with is people stealing other people's artwork and passing it off as their own, which was the situation in this case.
