Also, thanks so much for hearing me out:
1) My first question is about composition; I’ve noticed in your recent background works that everything is placed nicely and pleasing to the eye. Do you have any advice when it comes to composition in a artwork?

2) Lately, I’ve been looking into learning how to paint backgrounds/environments and I love what you’ve done with this technique. Do you have any advice for a beginner in painting?

1. Composition is a fun thing to play with! There’s a few tips and tricks but what I recommend is looking into photography. The same principles that apply to photography also apply to illustration & cinema! Basically your canvas is like a photograph that you have 100% control over.

2. As for painting, layers are your friend. I typically start with the flat colors first, and then work details in after. You can see that in this Speedpaint! youtu.be/_Ng2uBmb7LE
Contrast is also a super helpful tool, so brushing up on values will improve your work too!

Oh thank you!! And yes, I have two books that I wrote and illustrated! Theyre nothing groundbreaking but I’m proud of them because I put a lot of love in them. I’m thankful you feel that’s inspiring!
