Hey, I'm good.
It's very hot here, but I've just got back from 3 weeks in Budapest. That was very very hot!!!
I was shooting a feature film.
How are you?

YeriDG In reply to JackShelbourn [2012-07-28 16:06:47 +0000 UTC]
Glad to read, it's been a while °xD
The hottest place I've ever been to is spain, I suppose,
Budapest sounds like waaaaaay too much sun ^^°
But it's a good place for sightseeing, was there a beach, too?
Busy as always, huh? Feature Film sounds like a huge progress, was it your first one?
I believe the ones I saw up until now where shorts if I'm not mistaken :3
So-so I still don't got an internship, which sums up pretty much my current situation..
other than that I guess you could say I'm okay^^

JackShelbourn In reply to YeriDG [2012-07-31 18:18:37 +0000 UTC]
Yeah the sights there where amazing! The parliament and the Castle where my favourite... And the bridges...
No beach, Hungary is land locked.
Yeah, been super busy. Don't have much time at all for personal projects, or art work... Hence no updates from me... I didn't take any pictures in Hungary really. Took lots on Instagram (which is another reason I don't update on here much, all my pictures are taken on my iPhone). But was too busy really.
Yeah all have been shorts, except 1 which was an hour long. But that's an odd time in film... officially a feature starts at 45mins... But really its 1:30hours. This will be between 1:30 and 2:00 hours.
Glad you're ok! What's wrong with all the companies over there! If you where here... And I owned a company that you could work at, I'd hire you

Sounds nice
Woops, mixed things up a little *cough*
I'm bad at geography ^^°
Feels familiar somehow, when I'm working on study projects I don't get to upload
much either for a long time..
I don't got a fancy phone like that, haha xD
Ouh, that's some nice information, I always wondered about that somehow x3
(to be honest I might have been a little distracted when they explained it back when I started studying, too much information at once, haha °xD )
^^ Dunno, maybe it's me, though, I really am unsure about applying, I mean I know
about the basic stuff, but maybe I should simply grab my portfolio and camp in front of their doors until they agree to at least hear me out instead of writing emails and calling them. I mean I haven't been invited to a single interview yet...
Daaw thanks x3
Say, is 'challenges to grow with' correct couldn't find it anything about it..
I'm actually thinking about applying abroad somewhere..

JackShelbourn In reply to YeriDG [2012-08-01 21:22:49 +0000 UTC]
What context do you want to use 'Challenges to grow with'?
Abroad could be a good idea! I hear London is nice
I think camping outside is a very good idea! People like effort like that!

YeriDG In reply to JackShelbourn [2012-08-01 21:31:29 +0000 UTC]
'I'm looking for tasks that help me improve, challenges to grow with.'
Sort of?
Haha, but I heard it's expensive, too
Well, I'm not going that far, but at least going there personally might be an idea
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
JackShelbourn In reply to YeriDG [2012-08-01 22:27:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah... Going there personally is a must!
Ok... I don't think it's the right phrase... It's kind of correct.
Try: 'I'm looking for tasks and challenges to help me improve my skills and grow as an artist'...?
Or: 'I'm looking for tasks that challenge me and help my grow and improve'.
Or: 'I'm looking to grow and improve by taking on tasks that challenge and push me'.
Or: 'I'm looking grow by taking on tasks that challenge and push me to improve'.
:S

Well, but first I need to add a few things to my portfolio
[link] (*cough* that photo (Bio) is awful,
but my mother said formal wear is a must...// no I'm not trying to sell vacuum cleaners or sth....)
By the way I didn't show you a pic of me before did I ^^°
Oh, okay ^^
I went with the first one thx
haha, sorry, I'm still considering it, it's just that I don't want to freeload on my parents more than necessary.. plus, I might already be used to writing english on the internet but I don't know whether I'd be ready to work at a company with english as first or only language, cause I'm not used to hearing and talking yet ^___^°
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
JackShelbourn In reply to YeriDG [2012-08-03 16:31:59 +0000 UTC]
I'm sure you would be fine with speaking and working in English! I've worked with people who could barely speak it, but they where fine after a week or so of constantly speaking it. (they had learned it a school of course, but just didn't use it in everyday life)
It's a nice picture as you are smiling and look enthusiastic... But I don't know if formal ware is a must! I know it's different in Germany, as my good friend kept reminding me. And certain standards like that are expected. But I think in an artistic world, a picture where you express yourself is more important!
The picture on the top of my site wasn't my first choice. But my web designer said it summed me up the best out of the pictures I gave him... Where as the others just had me with more expensive cameras haha (www.jackshelbourn.com)

YeriDG In reply to JackShelbourn [2012-08-04 09:12:03 +0000 UTC]
Thx x3
I'm prbly simply a little nervous and all ^^°
It's just that that smile looks pretty fake, which I don't like combined with that formal wear it looks a little bit like I want to sell vacuum cleaners (or maybe insurances^^° )
It's not like I am always easygoing and a completely openhearted person,
but I'm not that much of an uptight person either. Problem is I don't have any idea what the standarts around here truly are concerning this 'artistic world'..
come to think of it I haven't shown this to one of my profs yet guess I was simply happy I finally had a picture..
I think it was a good choice, it shows what you work as and even more so it shows you while you're working. I want to try to get a picture like that as well

I've met a few. I being one of them haha Though I am a Cinematographer by profession.
Most on here seem to be American or German!
Hows the modelling going? Your profile says you're in the process of signing with an agency?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Rozenkraft In reply to JackShelbourn [2012-04-11 22:51:27 +0000 UTC]
Darn! That's a shame haha! XD but cinematography? Still, that sounds rather cool hehe
Tell me about it! I come from Germany but had to move due to my father being in the armed forces but I want to go back one day! It will be to work with photographers who have offered if I am ever in their vicinity but also to see family and visit a deceased relative's grave (morbid, sorry, you didn't need to know that )
Well! Three actually! I have an interview with one tomorrow actually! (12th April in case you don't read this reply before then!) And have got a contract from another that needs to be signed and sent back and another well reputed agency that I just need to do an induction day with but it's finding the pennies to do so at the moment! but otherwise, modelling is going amazing hehe looking at expanding my horizons with not only travelling over-seas but also with what kind of styles I do I like doing all the main-stream fashion but gothic, historical, steam-punk and fetish stuff will always be where my heart truly lies! Haha!
So how's life with you if you don't mind me asking? And sorry to have prattled on for so long! I'm a bit of an ego-maniac, loving talking about myself, me hehe xx

JackShelbourn In reply to Rozenkraft [2012-04-12 12:12:11 +0000 UTC]
Hey, I am more than happy for long convos
And I am also more than happy to hear more about yourself haha.
So yeah, that's really cool that you've moved around a lot, from a seeing places point of view!
Germany seems ace! I haven't been but I have a really good friend from there. And know a few people from DA over there. I really can't wait to go one day!
That's good that you have offers already from over there and family to see!
I don't mind you telling me about graves haha. I've only ever been to a relatives grave once I think...
Thats fantastic news that you have 3 agencies! Can you sign with all? Or do you just choose one?
I hope the interview has gone well!
So have you done much of the styles you like? Or is it all fashion so far? I really want to do some steam punk shoots one day! Again, pennies is the big issue haha. I live in London and this place eats your money like no ones business!
Life with me is good! Had a great start to the year. Currently editing some films I've worked on. Got some pre production about to start with some other short films. Also editing and doing VFX on a music video!
I'm very busy haha! Just need to convert it all into more money! I'm in the band of 'short/low budget films. Just need to start to move into the mid budget, where they tend to pay you well haha.
I do lots of photography, mainly head shots and stuff for actresses, as well as edit showreels. Etc. So I try to keep myself busy haha. But the end goal is to be Cinematographer on high budget Feature films (Hollywood stuff).

Haha I think I've moved too many times sometimes! XD
Oh Germany really is amazing in every way hehe so much better than the UK for living and for a holiday haha! Awesome backdrops for shoots too!!
Unfortunately I haven't well, not decent ones anyway. When I've gone to studios to have photos done, I've had family around and I don't want them to see me in that kind of stuff or I get dirty looks and "maybe you should wear this with this" grr and tell me about it! Living is so expensive here! Can't even afford the basics and essentials never mind luxuries!!!
Oh my gosh! Sounds like you're getting really stuck in! Haha I'll have to recommend you to my fiancee when he becomes a world famous director (he will!!!) To help him with some of his movies haha!
Hehe don't talk to me about showreels went for an interview with an agency, showed them my portfolio and they basically said "yeh its good but we need £250 off you to do another one and compose a showreel" gah!!
Good luck with everything hon! I will look out for you in the credits of the next blockbuster haha

I can imagine having family there would be awkward! I did a shoot once where my ex-girlfriend was there... Not fun! Very awkward directing a model with her stood there!
Please feel free to show my stuff to your fiancée. What films has he made?
I think you will find a lot of people out there to scam you out of money haha. Sucks!
When I can I'll try and arrange a shoot with you one day
Thanks

I know! Glad I'm not a push-over haha!

Ugh I hate them hehe
No not really We can't use the photography studio at college for commercial stuff and no one's really decent photographer wise. My boyfriend has a friend who will help me out but he's only an amateur and I don't want to do things half-arsed if that makes sense?

JackShelbourn In reply to Rozenkraft [2012-04-21 18:42:47 +0000 UTC]
That's a shame that you can't use the studio! I used my Uni one loads. We all did, or just our houses haha! Uni will be better for it I am sure!
Though you can just use locations. I love using natural light... It's cheap

So go to the make up course and textiles and offer to model for them! They will find the photographers!

In about two years! Haha! My hubby-to-be and I are thinking of taking a gap year and getting full time jobs after our next and last year of Sixth Form so then we have enough money to live over there (as he will be coming with me!) wedding, and then in my final year, baby... Hehe

JackShelbourn In reply to Rozenkraft [2012-04-25 12:49:58 +0000 UTC]
Wow, talk about a plan! I personally would recommend leaving the baby until after the final year... If your final year is anything like mine, you already won't have enough time haha
That's cool he can come over with you! Long distance like that would be quite annoying I imagine
But it's nice to hear such determination! Go for it!

Haha oh no! It will concieving in the last few months! Haha Uni is so ridiculously important to me!
And yuh, it'll be fine as long as we're married/engaged (we will be more likely the former) and we can get a house provided by the Uni (paying rent of course but it's cheaper than going through a housing agency!) And well, we wouldn't do it. We'd just get somewhere over there and live together. Not giving my baby up for the WORLD! XD
And yus! Always been determined and always get what I want!
