Heya, I thought our current video game art challenge / motivation might be interesting for you, its basically total freedom and aboutyour own favourite game character, please have a look at
ART CHALLENGE: Draw Your Favourite VG Character...and also win a reward if you are one of the first 20 participants ^^
Draw your favourite video game character during the next 14 days (the challenge ends on Sunday the 11th August)
Every video game character counts, from Mario, Sonic, Lara Croft. Master Chief, Ganondorf, your favorite Pokemon, League of Legends character, Street Fighter, L-Block (from Tetris) the nameless boy from Limbo..just EVERYONE.
Even characters like Spider-Man or other Movie, Book etc. characters that appear in at least one video game are allowed.
Everyone can join, you don't have to be a member of our group this time ^^

Well, thats part of the challenge, I don't expect super detailed, very well done submissions though, just whats possible for everyone in that short time ^^

The first 5 pieces of our Art Challenge!We have our Art Challenge with the theme to draw your own favourite video game character ongoing since Sunday and the first submissions are online here already!
While we thought the first ones would be super popular characters like Super Mario, Sonic or Tifa from Final Fantasy, we got kinda surprised with game characters that are not that known actually for the most part.
Have a look at the submissions so far!
This is the Jester and one of the playable Character Classes in Darkest Dungeon. One of those indie games that got a ton of praise but I was not able to play em yet.
Kudos to Kasiarzyna-QV for submitting the first piece for our challenge..and it being a game character I did not know about even.
Everyone loves Bubsy since his first game on the Playstation I guess...^^
I was joking with Dawgweazle about drawing Bubsy since I found it funny he drew him before well..seems he is also one of his favourite game chara

do you have any tips for someone trying to get into painting??

Hmm I'm not a good teacher. The reason why I slipped into painting is because that is what I'm most confortable with, I'm a messy artist so doing paintings fit me the most.
I say if you want to start somewhere, make a single layer and mix some colours together. Make a messy sketch and smash some colours on top, play and experiment around a bit and see how that works out for you.
But the basic rules for making good art are all the same, anatomy, colour theory, composition and shading, the rules are all the same no matter wich style you use, so never forget about the basics.
