I've looked through your gallary and you have improved but you still suffer from the same issues to a degree. Sometimes you have a good idea but it's poorly implemented like the Kon one, and in other cases you butcher your render like with the Ukitake one. I think I like your Shinji one the most. The shadow backdropping and the background you provided wasn't too bad of an idea, and the text is located well in the left hand corner, but I think you could have moved it up a bit. You could definitely also have added a green layer on top of Shinji and used the lighten or darken option with the blender tool I think.
