Your gallery is amazing, and your name rocks major socks. I would glomp you on the spot, but sadly I'll have to settle for a watch and a friend.

Oh haha I have the same problem here I suppose, I've only got one friend who joins me into listening Sigur Ros, but she's not as hmm hooked to them as I am. Overall everyone thinks my music is a bit off-beat. Not that I don't listen to mainstream music, it's just that I won't download any of it. Just leave it to stream on the radio haha.
And as for me, it's just a habit, listening to Sigur Ros at least twice a day, no matter what song. They never fail to please my ears with their music even if it is for a few minutes. And yes Ilgressi is a very nice acoustic song
I hope you make it, in trying to explain why you like them so much, in a limit of 5 minutes. Can you use other material? I remember my brother once had a presentation on Iceland and he showed the kiddos in his class the dvd heima? Perhaps an idea? Then again the 5 minute thing ...
Good luck!
P.S. Thought I'd post this on your page, since mine is looking a tad bit full. Hope you don't mind.

Homophile In reply to ffc14 [2008-10-30 01:10:43 +0000 UTC]
haha no i don't mind.
well, good. i'm glad i'm not the only one who listens to them every day... i mean, it's not because i "need" to, it's, like you say, just a habit
I hope i make it, too.. hahaha. and we have to somehow relate it to the world... and involve "research"... i'm basically just going to give information on the band and iceland and rant and rave about their concert and meeting them for five minutes. i will consider it a victory if ONE person in the audience goes home and looks them up... though i'm pessimistic in that respect... *sigh*
I have one friend that thinks Jonsi is the most adorable thing ever (can't say i disagree with her), but she also appreciates their music... i played popplagid for her once and she forgot where she was. and i have another friend who whenever i'm playing them around her she goes "i love this song!!!" even though she hasn't heard it before, and keeps begging me for a mix cd - so i think i've converted her. and i found out that one of my old history teachers is in love with them and is telling his students to listen to them other than that, the only people i know who've heard them are anyone who's ridden in my car, because they're always playing. it puzzles me when i play them for someone and they have no reaction.... ah well. *shrugs*
offbeat music is more fun

Atleast there are some people who don't mind us being such SR, freaks shall we say
Hope your speech is going well, I had my discussion today, the teacher said "Chandni stays Chandni" (which is my name by the way, what's yours?) Which is a good thing to hear.
Tomorrow's friday Any plans? I've got to sell some carwash cards over at a supermarket for a fundraising, the 5th graders want to go to London. After that I'll probably come home and watch some tv, hang around on the net or something like that. How about you?

Homophile In reply to ffc14 [2008-10-30 22:19:50 +0000 UTC]
Haha. indeed. I'm sitting with one of them right now
Chandni? That's such an interesting name ... where are you from? I, unfortunately, live in Virginia, of all places. It's horrendous. My name's Diana, by the way
I might be going trick-or-treating with my friend... not sure. I haven't done anything for Halloween in forever. 5th graders? Are you a teacher?
I got about 2 out of the 5 minutes done. But i'm kind of stuck. Because there are about 20 different aspects that I could talk about for 3 more minutes Oh well, hopefully i'll figure it out by Monday!
By the way, I'm almost finished with a huge charcoal portrait of Kjartan and Orri... heehee. Shall post it when I'm done, which (hopefully, i've been working on it a month) should be soon. Wish me luck on finally finishing it...speaking of Kjartan have you seen the picture of him and Jonsi from 1995 where Jonsi has a beard and Kjartan's dressed as a woman? I found it yesterday and it made me ridiculously happy...and disturbed.

Ofcourse I saw that picture. I'm a member of the Sigur Ros message board as well, bet you are too if not, you should be! haha.
Well I'm from Curacao, Netherlands Antilles. Small island in the kingdom of the Netherlands, it's only 60 km long and we have around 130.000 inhabitants. No I'm not a teacher I'm in the 5th grade, but I guess in your schoolsystem, that would be in the 11th grade. Sorry I didn't think of that earlier haha. So that makes me an 11th grader of 16 years old
Oh yes tomorrow is Halloween! it isn't celebrated thoroughly around here. But there are some parties going on, none of which I'm going to hmm.
I'm excited to see that charcoal painting, since the ones I've seen already are really nice

Yes, I'm a member... my board name's Illgresi
Ah.. Sweet. Yes, i think I remember you mentioning that in one of your earlier posts. That's aweseome! I've been to Curacao, it's beautiful.
Hahaha I was going to say, you're quite a mature 5th grader! I thought you were older than 16, that's cool. I'm 17, and I guess I would be a... 6th grader in Curacao? Hehe I'm a twelfth grader here.
I'm glad... so far i'm fairly happy with it... it kind of looks like them... kind of both orri and kjartan have infuriatingly hard mouths to draw... grrr. hahah.

Great gallery! Just might want to give you forewarning though... Deviant Art gets a little picky when people use images from other sources to make collages. So you might want to be careful when you post ur QaF collages on here. Sure, they're definitely awesome, but DA deleted one of my old pieces a while back cause I used pics I didn't own. Just a heads up
