Oh him. I couldn't stand the informal nature of the videos, even though he has a large following. I started doing some reviews of my own.

Need your opinion: steel cased Brown Bear 308 an issue in an L1A1?
π: 0 β©: 1
GlockGuy In reply to Sergi1865 [2011-04-09 23:03:31 +0000 UTC]
Not very familiar with it, but the general rule of thumb is mixing ammunition. Some guys I know actually have specific rifles they'll only shoot the cheap stuff out of, Brown Bear, Wolf, Tula..people have problems when they combine brass and steel cased ammo. If you shoot steel or lacquered cases, just be sure to clean the chamber before going back to brass to clear out all the sticky gunk and it should run 100%.

Not entirely sure what you're referring to, so I'm going to have to say no.

It's an acronym, for Shit hits The Fan. Your armament display is similar to one who'd be ready for a socio-economic collapse. ex. the tactical AR and Rem 700. check it out on youtube. there are vids EVERYWHERE from preppers, like Mrlockandload, Yankeeprepper, guys like them.

just outta curiosity: what is your opinion on Chinese( norinco) firearms? good? bad? workmanship?
π: 0 β©: 1
GlockGuy In reply to Sergi1865 [2010-08-30 02:41:11 +0000 UTC]
Well think of it this way, of the dozens of top firearms and manufacturers in the world, they don't really make the shortlist. That should be saying something.

In your opinion: what caliber is best for bear defense?( assuming residence in Alaska) 50BMG? 300WinMag?
π: 0 β©: 1
GlockGuy In reply to Sergi1865 [2010-04-19 01:41:12 +0000 UTC]
The best bear defense is not having the bear attack you to begin with! But if that really isn't an option, I'd recommend anything that is going to be semi-auto, a large caliber isn't going to help you much if you get one shot off before you're dinner.
Maybe something large caliber, AR-10 maybe?
π: 0 β©: 1
Sergi1865 In reply to GlockGuy [2010-04-26 23:09:54 +0000 UTC]
.308? good one but there are bigger: albeit few semis for em. which brings the next point: semi? or bolt? if I am buying a 50BMG..? what's your recommendation?
π: 0 β©: 1
GlockGuy In reply to Sergi1865 [2010-04-30 05:38:24 +0000 UTC]
Depends on what you want to do. Close range precision, something a police department might use involving multiple targets, you'd want a semi. Longer range, fewer targets, you'll want a bolt. Simply because the nature of being a semi-auto is looser tolerances, and therefore less accuracy.
As for a .50, my first question is, are you prepared to spend $10000?

Sergi1865 In reply to GlockGuy [2010-05-01 02:06:53 +0000 UTC]
Not until I find the right one for me, but since I trust your judgment I thought I'd consult you first.

GlockGuy In reply to Sergi1865 [2010-05-13 11:03:01 +0000 UTC]
Well if you're looking to shoot long range, look into the Springfield M1A, Remington 700, or if you want to go even farther, 1600+yards, the new Savage 110BA in .338 Lapua Magnum is VERY VERY affordable.

It isnΒ΄t mooching, it is helping your fellow man. Better the government then some greedy insurance company... I help paying for the fire trucks, why shouldnΒ΄t I help paying for healthcare and education?
π: 0 β©: 1
GlockGuy In reply to putrick [2010-05-31 21:35:37 +0000 UTC]
Fellow man? Greedy insurance company? Wow who is feeding you this garbage? FACE THE FACTS. Look at the current welfare system, and try applying it to everyone else. You pay for Fire/Rescue because they are a VOLUNTEER SERVICE half the time.
π: 0 β©: 1
putrick In reply to GlockGuy [2010-06-01 05:33:11 +0000 UTC]
No, were I live fire/rescue, police, ambulance are professionals (not saying volunteers are not professional), they work full time and are paid full time. In remote parts we have part time fire/rescue, that have other jobs, but they are also paid hazard pay when they are called to a fire/rescue. They are also paid a sum when being on call even if they donΒ΄t go.
I donΒ΄t think it is garbage. I think it s great.

Exactly. But would you like to go down the street tomorrow and start passing out $10 bills? Because the difference isn't that far off.

putrick In reply to GlockGuy [2010-06-01 06:25:06 +0000 UTC]
So you pay insurance? What is the difference? Except that insurance company can refuse treatment that isnΒ΄t covered...
