Well I Have a set of 12 Copic ciao markers which I use, and also some old Staedtler markers my grandpa gave me(which barely work xD), and a bunch of felt tip pens. I am planning on buying more markers when i get some money

i use chaos too but they aren't cheap... have you tried flexmarkers? they are quite good when you think they're like a third of the price of copics with a brushed nib :3

letraset promarkers are great for their price with a wide variety of colours and they blend well with existing alcohol markers you may have. Windsor and newton also do promarkers now and they're pretty good too 
also i know your pain, copics are just amazing but their prices... oh god! XD

Yes I find the spongy brush nib easier to work with so I do prefer that.
I agree, I know they are used by pros to but damn just cuz they are for pros too doesn't mean you need to be rich or sell your house to buy them

This may sound really pretentious or weird... but screw it!!
All artists (including the awesome, the cool and the down right jaw dropping!) came from the same place and found ways to better themselves in unique and interesting mediums
Go for it and find what makes your piece yours and flaunt it!
There is no such thing as 'better' in art as its more likely just they have more experience or higher quality paper (you get what i mean ^v^; ) so don't worry
