# About me

I met a terrible fate after seeing that which should not have been seen. The darkness consumes all, and no amount of light can penetrate this thick, muddy veil of deceptions and lies...

Or it could all be in my head :D

Either way, the chaos is with me now, and I am the chaos; unflinching and devoid of all life.

In other words, IMperfect.

I am a writer, and an occasional artist (though I admit, I am not too good at it:() I mostly write stories dealing with horrors from beyond the beyond, and I draw a great deal of inspiration from writers such as Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, and Steven King. I've also been known to write stories charged with political denunciations and criticism, and as such, I draw inspiration from Aldous Huxley, Orson Welles, George Orwell, and various anonymous authors. Though I do fan fictions, my true aim is to explore a world that is quite alien, trowing in tidbits of our sad reality into it. Just how can characters react to a world that is ultimately doomed? Can such a thing as happiness be achieved outside of wanton slaughter and war? I hope to answer this things and many more in what I write.

Oh, Btw, I am now brony. Confound those darn Ponies! They drive me to JOY!!!

The chapter will be posted up tonight at the latest. However, it will be the last I post until I complete the overhaul project and Closer to Heaven Part two. By my calculations (and giving myself about a month's time to rest and get my crap together) I should have it up by early February, late January of next year.

Keep an eye out for anything else that might pop from my head.

Just got done reading Salty Shores. That was some freaky crap man, but in a good way of course. Where'd you get that awesome pic anyway? I would have read Tresspasses too, but the document seems to be locked.

Garnot In reply to IDLIKE2BATREE [2011-10-20 05:07:49 +0000 UTC]

thanks for your comment. Took me a while to get the story just right, though I still feel it can be better. I'm continually working on it.

As for the picture, I made it, partially. Drawing's been around for a while, so I made it into a nice corrupt poster. I'll post on my DA page later on.

As for trespasses, try again, it should be open now.

Oh hey! You finally got another Chapter up on the EqD! Nice to see that you're finally getting somewhere again. Hope things continue to run smoothly for ya.

Garnot In reply to IDLIKE2BATREE [2011-09-17 18:40:44 +0000 UTC]

It has not been a smooth run. It took almost three weeks to get the new chapters up, so far, only 4 ratings have come in. Other than that, progress is still rather slow. I'll keep you posted on further developments.

Decided to get my own pony-exclusive e-mail, so go check it out in one of the docs if you want to send me anything. Qetuo and I have been making pretty good progress on the Chap. 2 prewrite. How are things with you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Garnot In reply to IDLIKE2BATREE [2011-09-12 17:00:42 +0000 UTC]

As you can see by my lack of Doc visitations and deviations here, quiet and uneventful. Life continues to be stingy, so I get by how I can, when I can. But, there is some good news; the chapters are at least coming together more or less without much issue, so don't be surprised if I just pop in one day and make my own re-write of chap 1 and zero. But again, when this will happen is entirely up to how things turn up.

mm... tell you what, I'll look into getting a few days in the coming week to myself. I'll contact you when this happens.

Keep up the good work. I'm particularly looking forward to the next part of Closer to Heaven.

Garnot In reply to HerrFishie [2011-09-04 02:34:39 +0000 UTC]

Why, thank you fish. I do try to be the best storyteller I can be, but I can tell you right now, I've still got some ways to go before I can even kiss the feet of the greats.

But that won't mean I'll ever stop.

Thanks for the watch. I'll have the conclusion to Close to Heaven done soon. How soon? Let's just say 'fairly soon'.

Garnot In reply to HerrFishie [2011-09-05 21:55:37 +0000 UTC]

Glad you liked it. It almost didn't turn out like that though, but through the magic of re-writes, I finally got her right.

Now I just have to keep up the magic in the conclusion.

Thanks for the watch! Is it the result of you reading Story With Occasional Editor, or a pity watch? XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Garnot In reply to lightsideluc [2011-08-31 23:28:03 +0000 UTC]

no man, I'm watching you because

a. You are freaking light; editor of so many fics I can't even count. That alone earns you a watch

b. Your story is pretty good. You're right that the mood could use work, but not at all bad man.

c. I'm looking forward to whatever else pops from your head.

Pity watch? where would you get such nonsense?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lightsideluc In reply to Garnot [2011-09-01 00:06:50 +0000 UTC]

I'm trying to put those days behind me >_>. Soul-crushing work, it is.

Yeah, I'm planning to do a re-write. I'm going to keep the snarky side comments about writers in there but it's going to be a whole lot more depressing, or at least serious. Beyond the mood, what was there that you liked/disliked about the story? I'm always fishing for tips (or praise).

Me too. Unfourtunetly for us both, those "pops" have become rather scare as of late.

I try not to further inflate my already-unwieldy ego.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Garnot In reply to lightsideluc [2011-09-04 02:31:08 +0000 UTC]

Aye, soul crushing work, which is why you have my respect.

As for changes and suggestions, well, try to be less dark and moody, and work instead on making things darkly humorous. While reading, I got the feeling you were trying to force things to be grim and dark. While I can see why you would try to do this, instead try to let the story flow by its own rules and feel. Forcing things often makes them bad.

As for actual suggestions, well, the first chapter, the intro can go so much faster. Instead of describing the alarm sound and some words in between that, go straight for the kill. "The alarm went off, I did this and that, etc." it will save you not only space, but hassle as well.

I might think of more things, but I'll have to read both chapters with a more diligent eye.

other than that, I'm quiet looking forward to the re-write.

lightsideluc In reply to Garnot [2011-09-04 03:04:01 +0000 UTC]

I'm thinknig about going commision-style for editing. That would make it soul-crushing work that paid the bills, at least.

Really? i thought it was far too light-headed for a proper noir.

Hmm, decisions, decisions... Another reviewer told me that part really caught their attention.

I'll try not to dissapoint ^_^.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Garnot In reply to lightsideluc [2011-09-04 03:12:05 +0000 UTC]

you could do that, but that would limit how many would be willing to ask you for assistance, and it would make those who know you look at you in, well, a brand new light.

As for my suggestions. Yes, lighten mood, but not in the way you think. What I meant was, that, as it reads, your story seems like the perfect place to exercise dark comedy at its best. Noir can still be done with dark comedy tossed in, and I'm sure you can pull it off, once you get the mood.

Realy,I'm not looking for anybody to look for me to help anymore. However, if someone is really that desperate then I'm willing to come out of retirement for them .

Have you read my story Onyx Origins? That's probbly the humour you're looking for there. Unfortunetly, I'm rather sporadic in my flashes of brilliance.
Like, two months sporadic >_<.

Here's the link to my main index. You'll find it there. Also, if you have the time, please feel free to read Maverick (and, if at all possible, give me some feedback on it). Fair warning for Maverick, it's a subversion of the Conversion Beureau universe so if you haven't read that it may be a tad confusing (I've tried to make it stand-alone though).

What method of writing do you use? Do you employ extensive notes or just, make it up as you go along?

I usually find keeping notes and making some things up as you go along work best for me.

I make notes in my head. I should really write them down, since I'm terribly forgetful...

Garnot In reply to lightsideluc [2011-09-17 01:15:39 +0000 UTC]

Yup, notes help a lot. Just, make sure you don't go overboard. That's coming form personal experience, as at one point, I kept over 500 pages of notes for each story.
