I'm good, thank you. Not been on here much - I've been a little preoccupied with writing these past few months. Gradually getting back to drawing portraits again now, though!

I think it's beautiful. I really, really do. It amazes me how you do that. How many years have you been sculpting for, if you don't mind my asking?
Thank you. You, too!

Aw thank you and nope, I don't mind at all! I started making sculptures in the fall/winter of 2013 I believe. I never finished the first one I started, I still have it stored away in a box but it's so wonky I don't think I'll ever finish it Everything else is pretty much in my sculptures folder, when it comes to the bigger actual sculptures that is. I have lots of tiny crafts that I didn't upload or uploaded and eventually removed because it cluttered my gallery and it wasn't very popular anyway cause they were ugly

Wow, so not actually that long ago, then! From the standard of your work I just assumed you'd been doing it from an early age. Haha, there's hope for me improving, then Not that I think I'll ever get to your level, mind you. I really am in awe of your stuff, though.
Lol I doubt they were ugly, regardless of whether they were popular or not! What was your first sculpture, out of curiosity?

Yeah, but I have been drawing practically all my life. No pen, pencil or piece of chalk was safe around me. I also drew on the wall in the living room with a pen, when I was like three years old. My parents still think it's hilarious because I was so proud of my "dinosaur". Anyway, if you can draw you can also sculpt, because you understandt the way form works. Of course it'll take some practice getting your fingers to do what your brain already understands. A lot of it is knowing the material (every brand of clay has different properties) and getting used to the technique. Seeing how well you draw, it shouldn't take much practice for you to get to that level too. I believe you can you just need to find the right kind of clay. I like the firmer brands that hold their shape even when it gets warm from your hands.
My first sculpture is a sort of deer / ram thing. I never finished it cause I couldn't figure out what I was doing with it's head and neck
Below is the second attempt at sculpting which turned out slightly more dynamic but I'm pretty sure if it was standing upright all it's legs would be a different length lol. It's got a bit of weasel, otter and lynx in it.

Haha, I can envision that so well. I was the same, I spent most of my youth drawing or writing (though not usually on the wall! ) but painting's never been my strong suit, I have to admit.
Thank you. I do make Fimo models fairly regularly these days, and I was surprised the first time I made something (Moominmamma) that it actually resembled her quite a bit, but it's getting the "smoothness" that totally evades me, even now.
I think that second attempt at your first sculpture is fantastic! I love the concept and the pose, and how you incorporated the hair, too. It looks like an ancient creature from folklore that ought to roam with Griffins and such. Clearly, you have the natural ability to sculpt, imagine and create from your mind, which is a truly wonderful thing.

Sandpaper and buffing after baking can really help a lot with creating a smooth sculpt. I have to admit I'm kinda lazy in that department but I've been sandpapering the sculpture I'm working on right now (a new full body Kirin) and it makes a huge difference already.
Thank you I do enjoy sculpting so much!
